Cricket isn't terrible in ODI/T20 format. However, baseball is a lot better in my opinion. The emphasis is on different things, like starting pitchers getting into grooves, "big swing" players, the differences in ballparks and the unforgiving grind of a 162-game season. That's a lot different than watching a sport that's mostly nationalized in nature.

The only restriction on bats has ever been how heavy you can make them so the batsman can actually use them. What has happened in the last 10 years is that drying techniques have allowed manufacturers to make the timber lighter per cm/3 which hence means you can make them physically bigger and yet not weigh anymore.
