I don't understand why we have to build a new Olympic village and facilities every time there is a new Olympics. This has to be the most costly part of hosting the games.
If we just re-used existing facilities, the cost to host the games would be much lower. Granted, the city would still have to employ a lot of people, but it could also make back that money in advertising and tourism money. Both Vancouver and Salt lake have hosted a Winter games within the last 15 years, so their facilities should be reasonably modern. Just give it to one of those two cities every time the Winter games comes to North America.
