O yeah I get that, but I only suggest it because there's a significant amount of interest in starting a top-flight team in Charlotte but the Railhawks are holding that dream back by playing small-ball in the NASL. A Charlotte-driven group of financiers could really give the franchise a push, but I don't just want the Railhawks to fold, that would be ridiculous.

It's about the money backing the team. The Railhawks will never amount to anything playing in Cary with their weak owners. But they're an established franchise, and there's significant interest in a much larger Carolina-based market. If the state of North Carolina wants a serious bid at an MLS team or at least a team that has a remotely popular following (because let's be honest, if you're in/near the research triangle you follow College Sports first, NFL second, the Durham Bulls third, Carolina Hurricanes fourth, and then maybe the Railhawks) they need to move to an area with less competition among a larger population, which is EXACTLY what Charlotte is. That's the only way the Railhawks survive, because one day Charlotte will get a NASL or MLS team, and the Railhawks won't be able to compete.
