Ashita no Joe is GOAT sports manga and also GOAT sports manga. Touch is definitely second best, Mitsuru Adachi is God.
Giant Killing is probably my favourite football manga but I also like Angel Voice because it's delinquents playing football and delinquents + sports = great manga.
I liked Giant Killers and Akagi is one of my most favourite anime of all time

I tend to not watch shounen ones because they often focus on the sport and I find them inferior to the real deal.
I watch the ones that use the sport as an excuse to tell a story about the character.
I've only watched Ippo but I plan on watching pic related hopefully it doesn't involve the gay community.

Whistle for football is pretty good. H2 is another Adachi baseball manga which is pretty based
haikyuu is probably the most well produced anime I've seen. amazing music, mostly amazing and smooth animation quality, good cast of characters with not as much (canon) gay shit, and stays true to the sport while still being appropriately anime.
big windup is gay as fuck but it's probably the most realistic depiction of baseball in an anime ever.
