Chicago has had the Wilds number the last five years especially in the playoffs. They've gone on to win it all so they have no need to feel a rivalry.
Avalanche goes back long ago. They are the only holdover from the Northwest division that the Wild were in before realignment.

Over the course of a career, every one of those cross checks and slashes is going to add up, and he's definitely lost a little of his game that just isn't going to come back. Playing a little defense would help. Roy's "attackattackattack" approach is cute in the QMJHL, but any well-coached NHL team can shut it down. When the Avs have to slow their game down and play a more traditional game, they can't do it.
They need some combination of Bigras/Zadorov/Geersten/Siemens to turn into legit top-4 defensemen, Landeskog needs to step up as a leader, and MacKinnon needs to become the player he was supposed to be. If those things happen with Roy, they're a Wildcard team. If those things happen and they have a coach with a defensive system, they're comfortably in the top 3 in the Central.
