I've been trying to get into March Madness this year after being solely an NBA fan.

And Holy Shit College apehoop if fucking horrible.

> 30 seconds of passing the ball around the perimeter doing nothing

>players missing 3s even though the 3 point line is mid range level

>Full court press actually works because most players can't dribble for shit and are too slow to avoid a double team

>no Jump Balls

>6'8 small forwards are so slow and un-athletic that they play Center

> Everyone who's semi decent leaves after a year

> Refs are somehow even worse than NBA refs

How does anyone watch this objectively inferior product?

so you're saying amateur basketball looks like...amateur basketball?

thank you so much Lieutenant Blatant

What pisses me off is so many people say they love college more because of muh fundamentals and muh passion. But I had to find out for myself that all that shit is a meme.

College is worse in every conceivable way
>>
dont bother OP, anons will call you a cuck for preferring professional basketball over this awful shit

I used to be like you. But it grows on you. I really enjoy college ball now, before I thought it was garbage
>>
>>66397144
it's like anything amateur, it's obviously lower quality but the enthusiasm for what they do is what makes the difference.

which is why one and dones are cancerous to the sport, there is no good reason to have guys like Ben Simmons that don't even want to be there.
>>
In the NBA the season is too long and the players are too good. Thus, playing tough defense isn't actually worth the effort. No one can sustain the defensive effort needed to contain an NBA offense for 82 games. So for the regular season, they really only try when they HAVE to.

It gets good in the playoffs though, I'll give it that.
>>
>>66397176
That's why the rule itself is fucking retarded. Why should Ben Simmons have to go to college for a year at all?

Same could said for college football. I go to an SEC school, but don't give a shit about it, the NFL is much better.
>>
the one and done rule made CBB even worse
>>
>>66397321
Because it leaves NBA teams fighting over raw prospects who almost never live up to the hype. For every Andrew Wiggins or KAT you get Trey Burke, Joel Embiid, Nerlens Noel, Nik Stauskas, Otto Porter, MKG, etc.

The NBA draft has turned into the MLB draft in the sense that players rarely do anything worthwhile until 3+ years after the draft.
>>
>>66397704
NBA lottery teams do not have the coaching staff, team structure, or administrative capacity to develop these players

anyone drafted by the usual suspects is dead in the fucking water. they can either con a bad team into a full contract and stagnate for $20m a year, or they can take a huge paycut and benchwarm for the spurs or the warriors or the other FOTM

19 year old Traykeeshawn Martavius-Espinoza has no fucking business leaving Kentucky or Duke or wherever else considering their lack of exposure to anything reasonably close to real basketball

college basketball is actively making the NBA WORSE
>>
>>66397659
wow really? you mean the rule that made the best players leave the sport early made the sport worse?
>>
>>66397875
>college basketball is actively making the NBA WORSE

this. It's the same shit as football. All the Qb's go to run Meme spreads and options that once they face a pro style offense with a real playbook they're absolutely fucked.
>>
>>66397898
didn't make anyone do shit

they did it to make the sport BETTER

it was getting ridiculous after lebron and dwight found success straight out of highschool

now we see the top tier bball schools with complete team destruction every damn season, just so these guys can suck ass on the 76ers for $800,000
>>
>>66397946
How exactly is watching these guys go one and done help the owners pick better players?

>Wiggins
went number 1 off of hype, had a shit season and a shit tournament and still went number 1

>Embiid
Lottery pick off of hype
Great season at Kansas
Got injured

>unibrow
number one pick before he even committed to Kentucky
Had a decent season
still went no 1

>Kyrie Irving
number one pick before he committed to Duke
Played literally 15 games
Got injured
still went number 1

It seems it doesn't matter what any of these guys did in college, if they have the potential they'll go in the lottery
>>
>>66398113
i don't know what they thought was going to happen with this 'price floor' (for lack of a better term).

all they knew was, KU and Duke and all them felt robbed of signees in the early 00's, so the NBA essentially forced them to go to college.

i don't know what happened that made such a large number of players think it was a good idea to leave ASAP. if they had a lick of sense they would look at the hornets, sixers, etc. and realize how fucked they would be. they should at least do two years like kawhi or blake.

not much can be done. i guess some NBA teams could formally announce they will pass over players without X number of years of experience, but those won't be lottery teams, and the lottery teams wouldn't pass a prospect anyways. "what if he's the next LEBRON!?"

it's a perfect shit storm.

Mariota proves this wrong
>>
how to solve the one-and-done rule

>age minimum back to 18
>every NBA team has its own D-League affiliate
>next labor negotiation they devote a small percentage of revenue toward increasing minimum salaries in the D-League and keeping D-League facilities up to par
>all straight-out-of-high school players can be drafted, but must spend the first season in the D-League
>first year is guaranteed money but does not count against cap, but NBA teams must either pick up their contract after the first season or waive the player
>performance of your D-League team is factored into the draft lottery, encouraging teams to take the D-League seriously
>>
>>66398414
the sixers and them are already incapable of finding 12 men for their main roster. running an entire second team with the hopes of improving the players in some capacity is an almost impossible task.

and the lottery functions to reward WORSE teams, not better teams. the worse you are, the better your chances. your system encourages teams to put their good players in the D-league and their bad players in the NBA.

if your D-league team is good, you need to put those players on your starting team!

i'm telling you, the league is broken by and large. only a few organizations make it look competent.
>>
>>66396634
College vs NBA isn't Good/Bad, it's Apple/Oranges.

Younger players, less time to prepare, a simple style of play. And it fucking words.

Cry elsewhere.
>>
College basketball is great because every coach has his own playstyle for his team.

It's fun watching UNC operate the secondary break year in and year out. It's fun watching Bill Self implement his hi-lo motion offense with the talent he gets year in and year out. And it's also fun watching Ketucky get super freshmen usually every year.

You see a lot of ball movement and passing at the college level because players are not great dribblers and it gets a man open. What's ironic is that Golden State uses the same strategy and is on their way to at least 70 wins.
>>
Grew up watching and playing basketball. Never got into the NCAAs. I've only watched the championship games. Out of the top 10 college players, 1 or 2 might be good. College is more about the coach and the system and I hate that. Look at Duke, one of the greatest college teams ever. How many NBA superstars have they produced? Even the NBA sucks now anyways.
>>
The same reason why I enjoy watching amateur porn than professional porn.
>>
>>66396741

I would rather watch people play the sport they love for the glory of winning than watch a bunch of rich guys not give a shit and chuck shots from wherever the old white man with a clipboard tells them has the highest scientifically proven chance of going in.
