Lifelong Bay Area guy here. The Warriors had a small but dedicated and relatively quiet fanbase before 2013 or so. They were crazy in the 2007 playoffs, but you'd never really see Warriors gear in public before 2013.
Now suddenly past 2-3 years you see Warriors everything: Jerseys, jackets, hats, pants, backpacks, etc (and all of the current yellow/blue/white color scheme by the way, because no one ever bought gear with their old navy blue and orange colors)
yes, the amount of warriors bandwagoners/fairweathers/whatever you want to call them in the bay area has increased exponentially with their success. But it doesn't mean Warriors fans never existed before. They were still selling out Oracle Arena and being extremely loud during the bad years.
