Here's a question for Germans

Since "BV" (ballspielverein) essentially means the same as "FC" does in English, then why aren't more German clubs called "BV" instead of "FC"? E.g. why isn't Bayern called "BV Bayern Munich"? And Köln "BV Köln"?
>>

>>
>>66245174
No I'm English

Sorry if I insulted you I just wondered

Obviously "FC" is for "Fußball Club" which I guess has become common usage for you (even though "Club" is just loaned from English, right?)

I was just wondering why you don't get "BVW" (Ballspielverein Wolfsburg) or "BVS" (Ballspielverein Stuttgart)

I mean you get "CF" for 'Club de Futbol' in Spain don't you, alongside the English "FC". Just wondered.

Here's an example from Croatia, we have:

- NK (Nogometni Klub), just like FC, for normal football clubs.

- HNK (Hrvatski Nogometni Klub), Croatian FC Whatever for ultra nationalist sides.

- RNK (Radnički Nogometni Klub), Workers FC for Communist clubs.

Another question for Germans: Why don't more teams use RasenBallSport?
>>
>>66245128
>Since "BV" (ballspielverein) essentially means the same as "FC" does in English
it doesn't really though
>>
>>66245464
because they aren't owned by red bull
>>
>>66245464
>RasenBallsport Leipzig was founded in 2009, as the fourth football club initiated and sponsored by Red Bull GmbH. In contrast to the conditions for previous clubs initiated by the company, the statutes of the German Football Association (DFB) did not permit the corporate name to be part of the team name. In order to comply with these regulations, the club instead adopted the unusual name RasenBallsport Leipzig, literally meaning "Leipzig lawn ball sports". But through the use of the initials "RB", as well as key elements of the Red Bull corporate logo in the club logo, the corporate identity was still preserved

nuance
>>
>>66245653
there's also carl zeiss jena. according to dfb statues clubs can have a company as part of their name as long as those clubs were founded as team for the employees of said company

Isn't Wolfsburg the same way?
>>
>>66245798
Kind of, Wolfsburg is the Volkswagen worker's club
>>
>>66245798
yes, but they don't have volkswagen in their name
>>
>>66245798
Also, the city of Wolfsburg itself was founded because of Volkswagen, so, yeah.
