Losing a lot of midfield control after dropping one of them in exchange for some nice through balls from Ozil would not be worth it (Messi is much better at it anyway). You'd also force Messi and Neymar to drop back much more because in Barcelona's system Iniesta and Rakitic are the ones who track opposing full backs very often.

Iniesta has improved again but I'm tempted to think Gündogan could do the same or better when offered the same support. Obviously he is nowhere close to prime Iniesta.
Kante is great, it's pretty close between him and Gündogan. Also, I think it's hard to compare the two as Kante's strength is mostly recovering the ball and finding solutions with little space, whereas Gündogan is more of a playmaker. I'll give it to Gündogan because he already made it to a CL final.
Dembele is good, but not as good as Gündogan. I have watched a lot of Spurs this season and they generally strike me as a tad overrated, EL meme matches aside.
Cazorla is decent and a little under the radar but not of Gündogan's calibre.
Barkley is alright, but not as good.
Mkhitaryan is also a contender for player of Dortmund's season, he is definitely the best AM for >us.
