what are your thoughts on this man, /sp/? did he really score 1000+ professional goals ?
>>66115674
Romario is the all-time official topscorer, with like 700+ goals.
>>66115674
>le scored 1000 goals on factory workers man
The best of his time, no the best of all time. Probably wouldn't even be in the top 10 today.
>>66115674
Well he counted friendlies and exhibition matches which no one else does and the records are shit from back then. He also played a fuck load of those friendlies cause he refused to come to Europe. He was good but not as good as he thinks he was. Hes a bitter old man now just grabbing cash and talking shit about young players. At least Maradona had the decency to become a meme.
>>66116644
He would have been a lot better with modern training/nutrition tbf, it's hard to say how good he would have been if he was in his prime today.
>>66116711
>modern training/nutrition
Stop this meme. Do you think sports science has advanced THAT far in 50 years???
Unless by nutrition you meant PEDs.
he was just a meme

Just 25 years ago, running 10km per game was considered a high value. Nowadays the many midfielders run about 12,5 km every game.
The intensity and frequency of tackles has also increased massively, and some roles have become far more mobile than just a few decades ago (mainly fullbacks and center-halves).
Just look at some footage from the 80ies or 90ies and you'll see a remarkably slower tempo. Extrapolate that for 10 more years and you'll get the style of play that Pele was used to.
Additionally balls used to be far heavier, which cut down on passing speed, making the job easier for all players involved.
The whitest Brazilian in history

a trannyfucking pedofile that tries to stay relevant by opening his mouth
messi would run 30 circles around him
He was great but he only played in Brazil and a lot of his international goals were against lesser opposition...
I rank guys like Di Stefano, Cruyff, Puskas higher than him
He does not deserve the attention he gets, it's all fabricated hype when the previously considered GOAT, Maradonna, turned out to be a drug-abusing madman. So FIFA was desperate to create a better face for the sport, and lookie here, suddenly Pele is the bestest best ever.
>>66120385
>only played in Brazil
>won a World Cup on Sweden, the only time ever a non-european won a world cup in Europe
The best player of the 60s. Let's leave it at that
>>66120385
>implying brazilian league was any worse than european league when all brazilians played here
>>66116644
the important thing is that pele was way ahead of his time. he was like nothing anyone had ever seen before. messi might be the best player at the moment, but his talent is not as extraordinary at this moment in time as pele's was in that moment in time.
the relevance of his 1000+ goals is questionable seeing as he never played in a good league, but at the time there weren't really any good leagues and the world cup was still the highest level of football and he wrecked it many times.
>>66120466
>he was like nothing anyone had ever seen before
what the fuck are you talking about Tichiro
Garrincha was already an established player and was much better than Pele already, was also a better dribbler and better passer.
>>66120352
>(You)
>>66120484
garrincha was a winger, and while arguably just as important as pele was to the team (brazil never lost a match with both on the field) didn't score anywhere near as many goals or have as many assists. pele was a complete player, and had what we nowadays call 'meme value' as well.
He'd be about Costa/Giroud/Vardy level if he played today.
>>66120484
lol no
Garrincha was the Neymar to Pele's Messi. He's overhyped by pretend hipsters who like to have someone to namedrop just to avoid Pele as the best in those teams, and also stupid hues who rate meme dribbles over game-winning football.
>>66120466
>he never played in a good league
Brazilian league was probably the best at the time, though.

>being this delusional
Pele was shite

The Brazilian league per se started in 1970. Unless you mean just the Sao Paulo championship.
