is college basketball dead?

Hopefully
>>
Yes and the 3 point line killed it

now that the one conference that actually did things right, the Ivy League, caved in and added a conference tournament, and this is seen as a good move by people in the sport, yes. the answer is yes.

how we got to a point where it's seen as a good thing that we let meta-cinderella who are 7 seeds in their own shit conferences meme their way into the tournament is beyond me

shit conference tournaments and mid-major tournaments, their very existence, ruin the sport. they literally should not exist at all
>>
>>66114292
What are you talking about? Conference tournaments are fun and a great prep for the Big Dance. If you can't win when it really counts, you shouldn't be considered by the selection committee.

The real problem with college ball is the fact that the elite players are forced to play a year in college when they're more than capable of producing/developing at the NBA level.

Programs like UK are the worst.

How can you defend OVC 8 seed Austin Peay being allowed to play in the tournament? How do you defend that shit? It makes the entire conference season completely pointless in all but the 5 major and top few mid-major conferences.
>If you can't win when it really counts
The tournament is a complete crap shoot anyway. Conference tournaments make the regular season that much more artificial and pointless.
>>
>>66113845
dude UCONN wins lmao

>Conference tournaments make the regular season that much more artificial and pointless.

These are college kids and they will gel as the season goes along. The team at the end of the season that's playing the best ball deserves to represent the conference.

>The team at the end of the season that's playing the best ball deserves to represent the conference.

It's difficult to comprehend how someone could actually believe this.

Yeah, 18-14 teams that gel for one weekend on a neutral site really are the best.
>>
>>66114441
so what is the point of the regular season in the flyover state athletic association
why even play those games
>>
>>66114502
>let's have a tournament full of choke artists
>>
>>66114511
aside from $$$, is there ever a point to the regular season in any sport?
>>
>>66114527
What are you even talking about? The good teams in conference tournaments are already looking ahead, and the .500 shit teams are literally playing every game like it's their last (because if they lose, it actually is). Choking has nothing to do with it, it's just a chance for teams who fucked up their regular season to get in.
>>
>>66114577
>seeding doesn't matter

if you think the top teams are just mailing it in, you're wrong anon
>>
>>66114546
Baseball, although it was a lot better before the two wild card bullshit. Basketball though has to be the worst.
>68 teams in college
>literally have a better chance of making the NBA playoffs than missing it
>>
>>66114614
I'm not saying that they mail it in, but would you disagree that the underdogs don't have more to play for in conference tournaments? It favors the underdog to play a more high-risk, high-reward style of basketball at this point.
>>
>>66114672
IMO thhe main reason why a 16 seed has never beat a 1 seed is because of conference tournaments. Every year you have a handful of 3-6 absolutely terrible teams that aren't deserving of being in the tournament in the first place. These are your 16 seeds.

This isn't the main point though. You put the best teams in the big tournament and in the long run it will be even better. Also you get a meaningful conference season. And there's still room for mid-major at larges and all of that stuff. 3 of the last 6 Ivy League champion teams (not including this season) have won their first round games in the tournament.
>>
>>
It's an awful product

>autism
>>
>>66114742

A meaningful regular season doesn't matter for college basketball because it's competing with Football and the NBA during those months. NCAA basketball owns March and tournaments are a big reason why.
>>
>>66114789
why did they wait to start the clock after he passed it in? was much more than .8 seconds
>>
Which game should I watch? Big 12 or ACC?
>>
>>66115026
ref hoop
>>
>>66115026
the clock doesnt start until the ball is touched.

>>66115922
fuckin dum

Conference tournaments are idiotic. As is holding a 6-round single elimination tournament to decide a national champion. NBA is where is at boys. Best teams win there.
>>

ACC
