RAFA BENITEZ APPOINTED NEWCASTLE MANAGER

Thoughts?
>>
Honestly as a Newcastle fan I couldn't ever have seen this happening, he is much better than the club deserves. I am unbelievably excited for the future.

That said, relegation is still a very real possibility. The players need to get their thumbs out of their arses.

Surprised Rafa would stoop so low, but if he's given time and control and funding he'll make Newcastle a force again I have no doubt. Hell, he can't make that shitshow any worse.

Their trophy drought will be over within 3 years
>>
>>66103745
I'm sorry I ever called you a fat waiter, save club pls
>>
Hyped for him being sacked in November after a 4-0 away thrashing at Birmingham City, leaving them 20th in the Championship.
>>
how does he keep getting work?
>>
>>66103860
>how does a CL, La Liga winning manager who has won trophies across Europe and built great sides keep getting work

Gee I dunno
>>
>>66103745
Why is he so shit ?
>>
>>66103751
hope you get relegated
>>
>>66103931
cheers la
>>
Will be on the fight for some cups, surely
>>
Are you telling me there was no one better than Newcastle that wanted him?
>>
He gonna struggle be interesting to see who signs though!
>>
The type of manager that could attract some talent to the club.

I'm not afraid of the >sleeping Geordie giant
Meme. I genuinly think that if they were run better they could be regular title contenders.

I've always had a soft spot for them, hopefully they can avoid the drop this season.
>>
I could literally have a record of 1 and 17 with real madrid and get a better job than manager of newcastle united
>>
>>66103955
Means he can stay near his family, rather than being halfway across Europe
>>
>>66103962
I'd rather work in Greggs than manage Newcastle atm tbqh
>>
>>66103745
Newcastle is too good for him
>>
>>66103745
Well I don't think it can get worse for Newcastle if he's coaching them

I actually think he can improve them

First Season in Napoli
>Won the Italian Cup
>Equaled their highest ever points tally
>Scored more league goals than in any other season in their history

>8th best winning percentage of any Real Madrid manager in history

Chelsea
>Won the Europa League
>finished 3rd
>reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup and Capital One Cup
>AND helped Fernando Torres score 22 goals in all competitions (double his tally in any other season at Chelsea

So, like, what happened to the old castle? Are you guys still making new ones? And how does the beer play into all this?
>>
hes fucking wank. why he does keep getting these jobs i beyond me
>>
>>66104177
new castle, but i believe the beer is still brown.

The eponymous "new" castle dates back to the Roman times iirc. The castle keep and some sections of the old walls are still standing

As for the brown ale, it isn't even brewed in the North East anymore

Because owners look at his actual work and achievements, not memes on 4chan

JUST GIVE US THE RELEGATIONB OWL TROPHY ALREADY

Has Rafa ever been in a relegation battle?
>>
The same thing will happen. He will do alright, fall out with the fans and then be sacked.

Newcastle are like Leeds, they have a lot of potential due to dominating a market and fanatical support but they consistently fuck it up by being retarded.

Firstly at no point did Steve McClaren ever do "alright", he was terrible from pre-season (we lost 4-3 to Portland Timbers' B side)

Newcastle have failed in the past due to the board's complete disinterest in footballing matters, that partly changed for the better this season with Mike Ashley finally deciding to invest in the playing squad after 8 years of chronic underinvestment however they persisted with the transfer policy and managerial policy that have consistently failed in the past. Due to the club's desperation to stay in the EPL Rafa has managed to negotiate greater control over the club than any of his predecessors under Ashley in regards to backrrom staff, transfers, etc.

Pardew had little to no say in regards to transfers or his backroom staff; players were very rarely signed and when they were they were bought for their sell-on value rather than usefulness. It was this complete lack of control that has stopped any Premier League-quality manager from ever wanting the job before but now things seem different, it's almost like we're a real club...

>tfw got to support Newcastle doing well now

F-f-feels weird
>>
>>66104382
I think he just means same thing will happen with Rafa as usual, not Newcastle
>>
WE'RE GONNA WIN THE LEAGUE LA
>>
>>66104411
That's not really usual with rafa though

>Valencia fans love him
>Liverpool fans love him
>Inter - I dunno
>Chelsea fans never gave him a chance, but he still won a UEFA cup
>Napoli fans - I dunno, but he won trophies
>Real Madrid fans never gave him a chance

1 sperge holding a banner doesn't change anything.

Chelsea fans were booing him from day 1, and shitting all over any game they weren't winning comfortably. Managing to win anything in that toxic environment is impressive
>>
I'd settled into the idea of Championship football next season.
>>

>but they consistently fuck it up by being retarded

In fairness what fucked Newcastle was unironically hiring Dalglish for any period of time, to fill any position.

>Sell Les Ferdinand
>Replace him with Paul Dalglish
>A player who couldn't get a match during the 1990s Scottish second division

That was just one of his master strokes. Newcastle never recovered from Dalglish, >we just went the QPR route of paying huge wages to garbage players until Ashley came along and we thought the good times would roll especially with him being the 2nd or 3rd richest owner in the league at the time. Everyone thought he would be like Roman, instead he got people who know nothing about football to run the club. It's funny how things work out though

>Ashley wants to buy Tottenham due to him being a Tottenham supporter
>Buys Newcastle instead
>Popular at first then went full Robert De Niro This Boy's Life mode
>Becomes hated
>Wants out
>Some consortium are interested in buying a club, specifically Newcastle
>Ashley wants far too much for it and Jews himself out of the deal
>Consortium buy City instead

Things could have been so much different.
>>
>>66104468
yeh because he said he hated the club when he was at liverpool
>>
Calling it now: whoever wins the Tyne Wear derby stays up
>>
>>66103962
He'll be on a huge wage and won't be blamed if they do go down

It's win/win as far as he is concerned
>>
>>66104488
how does one ironically hire Kenny Dalglish?
>>
>>66103745
we are fucked now
