Higuian (or whoever it was that carried the ball) after getting past the goalie went too far away to the side from the goal, in a way that he'd still need to pivot or whatever, whereas Greednaldo would only have to lay his foot to the ball (he reached the ball at the same time as the other guy hence the hilarious collision).

If you compare goalscoring records of players in a specific time-frame you have to take into account if one of them had the favourable circumstance to SHOOT drastically more amount of penalties.
To illustrate what I mean, lets assume Messi shot Ronaldo's amount of 58 penalties in that time-span and Ronaldo Messi's amount of 38 shots, applying their La Liga 09-16 conversion rates (88% for Ronaldo, 84% for Messi):
Ronaldo: 196 non-pen goals + 33 penalty goals = 229 goals
Messi: 216 non-pen goals + 49 penalty goals = 265 goals
See how it inflates Messi's count, how far Ronaldo suddenly appears from the GOAT?
