why are trick plays hated so much in football?

why do fans always try and discredit a win if it came as a result of gadget plays?
>>

people will always be butthurt after losing just tone their bitching out

how the hell can the play be distracting if it wasnt executed before zero? how can it be distracting at all?

>why are trick plays hated so much in football?
They aren't, but they're pretty much dead in the NFL apart from either the complete meme ones to make the other team call timeout, or to exploit a rule loophole.
>>
>>65239336
the refs weren't paying attention to the play clock

there's no talking to you, man
>>
>>65238918
I don't mind teams doing trick plays, they just don't work well enough in the pro game to have any value outside of the surprise factor, hence why they are trick plays and not regular plays.
>>
>>65238918

Because they're low percentage plays that are hard to pull of and if you're in a circumstance that necesitates you to use a trick play you shouldn't be doing even harder plays. They don't work most of the time.
>>
>>65239370
and thats an officiating issue.
totally unrelated to the play.

you make it sound like the refs knew the play ahead of time and forgot how to do their jobs because they were more focused on watching a play that had yet to be executed or to be known by anyone other than the coach and the 11 players on the field.

you sound salty.
>>
>>65238918

Football is a game for cowards. Everything they do is so fucking systematic and boring. For the money they get paid we should be demanding a big hit on every fucking play. Instead we get faggots taking a knee with over a minute left or never going for it on 4th down when there's a good chance of killing the game there.

>>
>>
>>65240002

these questions you are asking are WHY the trick play worked and why trick plays are so impressive

there is nothing to communicate when literally everyone thinks the ball is going to the same place. i am sure towards the very end when that first oregon player (green team) saw who had the ball they yelled out
>>
The only people who hate trick plays are people who dislike fun.
>>
someone post edelmen to amendola pls
>>
>>65240002
Possibly, but the punter can always miss the alignment. You're watching the people you're chasing, and what the main returner is doing. If he runs to the right and acts like he's watching the ball and is ready to catch it, you follow that guy.
>>
>>65240002

sorrymisread the question,

no that is never discussed usually, maybe at the pro level but rarely even at d1.

teams never discuss where the punt is going really because it's usually VERY obvious because the other team has to receive it. and therin lies the trickery.

I don't know much about football (boreballfag here) but why were they allowed to throw it twice here?
>>
>>65240209
Because the first one was a lateral. You can only throw on forward pass per play, but other than that you can toss it as much as you like
>>
>>65240209
Because the receiver is behind the line of scrimmage. You can only throw a forward pass if you are behind it.

as long as the person throws the ball behind them, it is considered a lateral.
you can throw/fumble the ball backwards as often as you like, but you can only move the ball forward from you once per play.

entertaining maybe, but it's tempered by the fact that the play is generally only possible because the other team (or sometimes both teams) doesn't know what they're doing

>>
>>65241315

Sure, but imagine for a minute you're with a bunch of friends and they're playing Smash bros. They're both terrible at it and no professional player could get away with what they're doing, but when one of them pulls off something crazy and kills the other guy, it's still really entertaining. You're not impressed, per se, and you definitely don't try to imitate them if you want to get good, but it's fun to watch.
>>
>>65239983
why does the offense have 2 guys wearing different jerseys

Tons of flea-flickers in the NFL too, though you could argue it's not that they're "trick plays" as much as a play set to give your wide receivers a ton of time to get into position, like a really long play action.
>>
I really like trick plays because they are entertaining, but I understand why they are not common in the NFL: risk/reward is too low.

Pro defenders won't take the bait as often and even if they do, they have the training and talent to respond to it. Also the choreography required on the offensive side of the ball is a fairly big investment of practice drills, for what is essentially a one-use play.
