It was an annual thing and the irony of Al "wish I would have thought of that" Davis suing the Broncos was a common joke thread throughout the NFL. But I wasn't 7 at the time like you must be.

When advantages are so hard to come by, taking advantage of loopholes in the salary cap system is part of the front office game.
