It was Elitch Gardens originally in North Denver (38th Avenue and Tennyson IIRC), in the mid 90s when the railyards downtown were being dismantled for urban renewal, they bought a big chunk of land and set up shop there (Pepsi Center was built around the same time). To be fair, Casa Bonita was never known for it's food. The soapapillas are alright. But it's basically the atmosphere, although the schtick of that place is very dated (it's heyday was basically the 70s and 80s, to give you an idea). It's just generally a unique place, it was like one of those old supper clubs from way back; have a meal and a show, but thrown in a miniature indoor amusement park.
If you're over the age of 12 and don't have children of your own, there isn't much reason to go to Casa Bonita, though. Great place for children, even still with 2/3s of it's shows and attractions closed.
