When somebody says they are a fan of a team from a city they don't live in or are from, or the team isn't their father's, I completely disregard their fanaticism.

People don't seem to understand that there are rules. In order to be a fan of a team, one or more of the following must be true:

1. You've lived within 100 miles of your team's city for at least a year by the start of the regular season.
2. In the past, you lived within 100 miles of your team's city for at least 3 years.
3. Your team is the same AND ONLY team that your father follows currently. If your father does not currently follow any team, but did in the past, he must have had followed that team for a minimum of 10 years. If your father does not follow sports, any instance of "father" can be substituted with "older brother."

If none of these are true, you are a bandwagoning shitbag, and you are not allowed to get excited about "your" team.

I may have missed some rules, feel free to suggest any.

Am I allowed to root for both?

Oh, also
>college rules

1. You are currently attending the university of your team.
2. You graduated from the university of your team.
3. If you didn't graduate and no longer attend, you may only be a fan of the team if you dropped out involuntarily and the reason was unrelated to grades.

>moving to the city of all of my teams this year
>never plan on leaving once I get there

Does future city count?
>>
>>65071986
Find a third party to determine who is the "man" in your fathers' relationship. His is the team you can follow.
>>
>My team is finally doing well, so I better write up these arbitrary rules to stave off bandwagoners.

Disregard those, to be a fan of a team aslong as you truely love them and show love for them and feel real emotions when they win or lose then youre a fan.

And some edgy shitposting neckbeard on the sports board of a mongolian rain dancing forum isnt going to change that

I'm trying. for seven years after high school I did nothing but work bullshit service jobs. Finally went to community college entirely through FAFSA and shit, got a computer info associates with a 3.96 GPA, two weeks out I was swept into a tech job that I was totally unprepared for. I've learned a lot in the last ~20 months and made some friends but I am socially retarded to the point that I want to kill myself just for being in the same room as other people some times.

When I was going to college I was hitting the gym 5x a week and doing yoga...never felt better or happier. A couple months after starting my job I fucked up my leg somehow, felt something tear in my heel, and my leg has hurt bad ever since if I use it too much. All up in my knee and down my calf, it's awful; I don't know shit about the body, but its got to be some muscle I ripped somehow. I haven't gone to the doctors once since starting my job even though I'm paying for the best insurance they have...I just don't care enough.

That's the worst part, is the inability to care. I want to, but I just can't. Does that make sense? Just about anything...I've made some friends, do some stuff socially throughout the week now, but I'm still emotionally and socially crippled and it affects my ability to move up at work badly.

And besides that I just hate myself. I've been on 4chan since 2005, and the only woman I've ever loved left me without a word and disappeared. I'm not an alcoholic yet, at least. But I have no hope. I just get up every day because it's something to do.

I think that it should be added that if you have been rooting for it since you were under ten years old, it's not bandwagoning.
When I was 7 an American exchange student named Andre. Andre was from Denver and he liked sports, so he watched Broncos and Nuggets. And since Andre was the big black older brother I never had, I started watching that shit with him. It's been 20 years, and I really don't consider myself a bandwagoner.
>>
>>65073819
Yeah I know yo, I still follow my Thrashers as the Winnipeg Jets. At least the Rams are keeping their name.
>>
>>65073844
THE PANTHERS AND WARRIORS ARE BANDWAGON TEAMS
>>
>>65071968
I live on the West Coast and have no connection to the Panthers. I picked the Panthers as a kid because I thought their colors looked cool. Since then I never once considered changing fandom. I watched every game of the 2-14 season while most Carolina natives said they were a joke and either rooted for the Steelers or just watched college basketball. Now that we're doing well, I'm suddenly not a true fan but they are? You can fuck right off with that shit m8.

>>
>>65073845
>>65073937
Case in point. This is in no way bandwagoning.
>>
>>65073937
Picking a team because of their colors is woman tier, but your real fuck up is forsaking whatever west coast team you're closest to.
>>
>>65072019
Bullshit. I grew up in Nebraska. It was all we had.
>>
>>65073953
He's saying that the Panthers and Warriors are bandwagon teams. It has nothing to do with Steph or Cam. You're actually fucking stupid.

I was a kid when the Oilers moved away from Houston, it was a weird feeling. I still rooted for all the guys but it sucked knowing I wasn't going to be able to go to any of their games again so they didn't feel like my team anymore. I got to go to a few Broncos games because my uncles in Fort Collins had season tickets so I started following them ever since.
>>
>>65073976
You must be literally retarded. A bandwagon team. Wow, I didn't think anyone could be that retarded.
>>
>supporting your dads team when you have a local team

disgusting tbqh, My dad is a Bills fan but Im a Dolphins fan because im from miami. Dadists are filth.
>>
>>65074014
What are you confused about? I will help you, it's okay.
>>
>>65073986
I mean, obviously I root for my local teams. But there is no local NFL team nor is there a local basketball team, so this is what I'm going with.
Also I'm not this >>65073959 faggot.

Wrong. You forever alone neckbearded autist.
>>
>>65073937
There was no team in Los Angeles at the time. Rams will be my #2 now but no way would they replace the Panthers even if they were much better. Also I wasn't going to root for the Chargers because I had no connection to San Diego. There is so much in SoCal that LA and SD might as well be in different states.
>>
>father hates sports

Damn, you weighted this against me. I don't actually have a favorite team though.

This whole Rams relocation has really opened my eyes to how nobody follows these subjective (yet accurate) rules. I see people saying shit like:

>If you're a true fan you'd follow the team no matter where they played

The whole point of following sports is to have a sense of community, or bond with your friends and family. That doesn't exist when you just root for a team 2,000 miles away because "hurr durr Cam has swag"

The closest pro franchise to me is like 200 miles away (SA Spurs) so you need to make an exception for people who live greater than 100 miles away from their pro team. I'm also about 4 and a half hours from Dallas, the closest city to here with a NFL team
>>
Reminder that the NFL wants you support multiple teams so they can take more of your money

What about living in another country?

Many people here bandwagon the Steelers, and because I'm a contrarian faggot I became a Ravens fan.
>>
>>65074471
I'm interested in these bandwagon rules for people living in other countries too.
