You gotta be fucking kidding me. Just as I was getting exciting for Rico Abreu, NASCAR does something to turn me away from the truck series.

I've accepted the Chase points structure. That much I can live with. But mandatory cautions? You gotta be fucking kidding me.

Please tell me they are doing away with the lucky dog? You can't keep everyone on the lead lap. Someone, e.g. John Wes and Jennifer Jo, needs to finish a lap down. That's how motorsports works. Lap traffic is just part of oval racing and it makes racing exciting at times.

NXS DASH 4 CASH to continue; adds 2 heat races and a main
>The NASCAR XFINITY Series Dash 4 Cash will be comprised of Two Heats and a Main at four tracks: Bristol Motor Speedway (April 16), Richmond International Raceway (April 23), Dover International Speedway (May 14) and Indianapolis Motor Speedway (July 23).
>Qualifying for each Dash 4 Cash event will set the 40-car field and the starting positions for the Two Heats with the fastest qualifier awarded the Coors Light Pole Award.
>Odd-numbered qualifiers (1st, 3rd, 5th, etc.) will start in the first Heat in respective order, while even-numbered qualifiers (2nd, 4th, 6th, etc.) will start the second Heat in respective order.
>The Two Heats will set the starting positions for the Main with the top two NASCAR XFINITY Series regulars in each Heat becoming eligible for the Dash 4 Cash bonus.
>The highest finishing driver among the four Dash 4 Cash eligible drivers will be awarded a $100,000 bonus.
>If any driver wins two of the four Dash 4 Cash bonuses available, he/she is all but guaranteed a spot in the 2016 NASCAR XFINITY Series Chase.
>In short, two Dash 4 Cash bonuses are equivalent to one race win in the new NASCAR XFINITY Series Chase format.
>Drivers must have declared to earn NASCAR XFINITY Series points in order to be eligible for the NASCAR XFINITY Series Dash 4 Cash bonus.

So basically there are no more "long run" setups. There are no more road course strategies. There are no more green flag stops (unless you have something go wrong and need to pit). There will be manipulated lucky dog racing with setup cautions.

I like that they added the chase to the other series, but the caution clock in trucks is fucking dumb.

Or even better yet, what's to stop someone at the front of the field on an intermediate or bigger track to stop on lap 19 or a run, stay on the lead lap, then assume the lead after others pit?

While I appreciate NASCAR’s effort to bring more excitement to the product in their lower series, I’d be remiss if I failed to point out their overlooking of the monumental elephant in the room. Several years back NASCAR launched its ‘Green’ campaign. A campaign designed to raise awareness in protecting our Mother Earth. NASCAR claimed to be taking several steps to ensure the sport would continue to become as green as possible, but they’ve fallen well short in that regard. As the value of the Russian ruble continues to drop to record levels, we are seeing the cost of our most valuable natural resource plummet. On the surface this may feel like a good thing, but in terms of economic and environmental long term impacts, this will have devastating consequences. NASCAR is a sport built around traveling the country to put on races in various states so that their fans can all have somewhat of a ‘local’ race, but with television contracts and the state of network TV, many of these races are unfortunately being pushed to a primetime slot. NASCAR has had a fantastic opportunity to further their ‘Green’ initiative in these situations, but for whatever reason, likely ignorance, they’ve failed to capitalize on it. Rather than enormous banks of light which further strain local power grids, the drivers could be racing with their headlights instead. But at the end of the day, NASCAR prefers to talk the big talk instead of walking it.

I wish they would have started with the clock in Xfinity, if we're talking snoozefests, that's the series that needs a massive swing taken at it, not the trucks. There were some boring races last year with the small fields and KBMdominateslol, but it was already looking better for 2016.

Either everyone in this thread knows why this is being done or there isnt even a reason for this to be happening, because no one appears to have asked yet and no ones talking about it.

WHY would they put in mandatory cautions regardless of if theres anything to caution about? Is this really about the people who finish down a lap being terrible and not wanting to feel terrible or something?

http://www.nascar.com/en_us/news-media/articles/2016/1/19/nascar-caution-clock-camping-world-truck-series.html
>>
It seems like what they really actually want the race to be is like a points race in track cycling.
>>
>>65075291

Sounds like lowering the skill gap in professional sports like they have done in video games.

They change the system so that idiots just end up more successful by chance and the professionals arent able to use their skill as effectively to gain an advantage.

Think being able to walk up behind someone on a tiny map and blow them away with a noob tube without aiming, as compared to a large scale map with actual flanking and a team and a line and difficult aim, without cheesy "I win" buttons and kill streaks to do the work for you etc.
>>
If they would take away the downforce and make the cars more difficult to drive, the racing would improve and they wouldn't need gimmicky bullshit to keep it interesting.
>>
If they just wanted heat races, why didn't they do heat races? Trucks are supposed to be a stepping stone up from ARCA/K&N, they aren't that far removed from regional late model type series that do heats. Why did they need to make a horrible gimmick out of it?

Brian France has publicly said that the failure of the CoT has made him stray away from Bill Sr. and Jr.'s mentality of "We make the rules, and if you don't like it go play in someone else's sandbox". Which is somewhat justified considering that the CoT has set the sport back a ton.

I just don't want NASCAR getting involved with the FiA, which is the real concern that I think Kauffman presents since the FiA is his background.

I feel like what Kauffman did in his approach to Brian was basically
>Nice sport you got here. It'd be a real shame if something happened to it.
And Brian rolled over because he realized that if the momentum started, of course the oligarchy of Hendrick/Roush/Penske would want less competition and more money.
>>
>>65087040

I know Kauffman has been the subject of ongoing vilification, but I think NASCAR has done it to themselves in a certain sense by abusing the teams with radical car changes every 2-3 years since 2007 and the total cost of all that. And NASCAR isn't in the position where they can union bust, because the balance of power has shifted because there are no more "scab" teams to fill the field if the team owners ever decided to try anything like the first Talladega race again.

My number one concern is that the franchising system is basically a "Reverse Tony George", where instead of it being George reserving most of the Indy 500 field for his league and telling all the big teams they had to fight for a pittance of spots in the field, NASCAR and the oligarchy of owners are essentially saving a place for themselves every week and telling any startups to kill each other for less spots in the field than you can count on your hand.
