How do we make this crap as exciting as college football?
>>
>>64858785
take away the draft and salary cap and have the players just sign to the highest paying teams, just like in college
>>
>>64858843
This. Let's just have a league with 5 or less elite teams like European soccer, college football, NBA, tennis, etc
>>
Take away the pussy penalties and let Pacman Jones lead the NFLPA
>>
Bring back the replacement refs.

>>
College football is awful in part because there is no parity and in part because southerners like it
>>
>>64859186
>No parity
>Awful

People get excited over undefeated teams, not a league full of 8-8 teams.
>>
The 1st time i see collage football, and goddamn that was good match. I thought only faggots played that game. But it was because I only watched the NFL.

No. They don't have teams because they can't support one. If they could, well they would have one.
>>
>>64858948

Is that really much different than it is now? How playoff games have the Patriots, Steelers, and Packers been to over the last 5-10 seasons?
>>
NFL could do it, just have less commercials and less penalties. The delays in the game are what make the NFL boring. Don't even get me started on all the stops in play to review plays that take one look to decipher (but end up being a 2-3 minute commercial break).
>>
>>64859342

Why does college football have no parity while the NFL has pretty good parity whereas college basketball has pretty good parity but the NBA has no parity
>>
>>64859730
Way to completely miss the point
>>
>>64858785
College football is watered down garbage made for frat boys, Maddenbabbies, cousinfuckers, and homosexuals. The offensive schemes are dull and simplistic, yet they still score a bajillion points because no one plays defense. In any given year there are only ~5 teams worth half a shit. It's designed for the absolute dregs of society, and no one else.
>>

>>
Amateur handegg succeeds partially because of lots of fast, free flowing gimmicky offenses and blitzing to cover for the lack of size, polish and quantity of skillful, quality players across teams. Remember the wildcat and option revolutions? Its use declined because NFL defenses figured it out. NFL is just more geared toward plodding play as is.
>>
>>64860115
The point is that you want to see a league dominated by 3-4 in perpetuity, I'm just wondering which one of them you would start rooting for when the other 28 teams inevitably lost all of their fans

>>
>>64862717
Partly because a lot of the smaller market teams complained about the bigger teams buying the better players. They couldn't compete so they had to figure out a way to handicap the teams in larger markets.
>>
>>64862785
Isn't that what makes it competitive?
Why the fuck would you enter a poker game with 1000 dollars if some faggots with 1 million can sit at the table?
If you can't win on a level playing field you're shit and relying on handicaps.

That's the idea. The interesting thing is that there seems to be more parity in MLB than either the NFL or NBA. In MLB, going the route of the Yankees or Dodgers doesn't usually work. Teams like the Royals and Giants win because they know how to draft and build a good farm system. Hell, the crappy Marlins have won two WS titles. Meanwhile in the NBA and NFL, you pretty much have the same teams in contention for the the title.
>>
>>64860136
This, college is shit and defense is nowhere to be found. The offense are usually memes and their strategy and schemes are no where near being the same depth as their counterparts in the NFL. College is just too boring and games always seem to be high scoring. I'll take a low scoring game were both teams don't break 20 over one were they score 40+ points and all 3 phases show up to play not just the offense. The other problem with College ball is how significantly unbalanced the teams are.
>>
>>64862979
>autism
>>
>>64862984
Go back to watching your shit ass college games. Evrything I said is true, you can't even deny this. Let me guess you also enjoy high school ball.
>>
If the NFL was like CFB you dumb faggots would constantly be screeching about meme plays, meme offenses, meme QBs, etc etc
>>
Why can't we just enjoy the games. CFB can be very exciting at times and it can also be very boring. The same is true of the NFL. It's just a damn game. If you don't like watching the NFL or CFB then don't, no one is forcing you to.
>>
>>64859774
Last time the league made it easier to sign great players it led to the stupidest NFC domination ever

Cowboys haven't gotten close to a SuperBowl because they can't buy players anymore

Now it takes skills , competence and good coaches to lead a team to a SB which is why out of the teams that made it to the owl in the 90s
Only 49ers , Broncos , GB , Pats, and some other team I believe I don't remember have made it to the superbowl since

Another thing is I never got the "college sports is more exciting meme" why turn the sport into apehoop? Big numbers = exciting Now?
>>
College football is for sad manchildren
>>
>>64863222
>That plus Jerry Jones screwed over Jimmie Johnson. Then decided he should be the GM.
>>
>>64863272
I never understood why Jerry did that

Honestly the Cowboys were held together through jimmy and it showed after the third bowl win most of the players just didn't give a shit anymore

And jimmy isn't even aknowledged by Jerry to this day

Fucked up owner , fucked up organization
>>
>>64863301
>all jerry had to do was stop taking credit for shit he didn't do
>couldn't even do that
we're talking about the same man that fired tom landry
>>
>>64863350
Let's be fair here
Tom paid his dues and Jerry just bought the team

iirc he wanted to completely reboot the franchise because it was going down in the dumps along with the city of Dallas.

Better to let tom "retire" than ruin his legacy some more
>>
>>64858785
no padding.
>>
>>64863301
Jerry Jones isn't a humble man. He hated how much attention JJ was getting for the Cowboys' success. It probably also had to do with the fact that JJ was a control freak like Parcells. Jerry didn't like this so he fired him and hired a more agreeable coach in Barry Switzer. Just to reinforce that point, we have to remember that as soon as Jerry bought the Cowboys he fired the GM and even the legendary coach Tom Landry. He did that largely because he wanted to be in charge and run things his way. The problem again is that Jerry doesn't really care what anyone thinks and will do whatever he wants despite what his team actually needs. It's ironic because once JJ left, the Cowboys talent grew tired, and some of them even left to play for the 49ers because the owner was a lot nicer to the players. I can only imagine how many Super Bowls those Cowboys would have won if Jerry hadn't fired JJ.
>>
>>64859774
>>64859774
SB winners from 1981-1995
>49ers (5)
>Redskins (3)
>Raiders (the only AFC win over NFC. it was against the redskins)
>Bears
>Giants (3)
>Cowboys (3)
compare that to the Brady era 2001-now
>Patriots (4)
>Bucs
>Steelers (2)
>Colts
>Giants(2 over NE)
>Saints
>Packers (over Steelers)
>Ravens
>Seahawks
Despite that Pats dominance and the ever present Steelers and Packers it is still more varied than years past or the NBA/NCAA which has had LeBron and Bama at the top for 6 years.
>>
>>64863222
Yes, High scoring=exciting, Defensive games=bad. That is why the NFL cracks down on Defense, to spin the scoreboard and bring in viewers. The only thing that stopped the Arena League from success is being filled with nobodies and clearly looking like a feeder league.
>>
>>64863301
Free agency killed that team. Because they had to pay Emmit they lost their number #2 WR Alvan Harper. and so on down the line.
>>64863350
Landry was 3-13 in the season before Jerry took over. 1-15 in the season immediately after. Jerry Jones confirmed idiot.
>>
>>64862984
The difference between college and the NFL. The Browns CAN beat the Patriots if they played ten times whereas Arkon (not even the worst Div 1 team) would struggle to even score in all 10 games.

>Anyone can win
Unless the pollsters don't like you that is, or you don't get the benefit of the doubt like the SEC currently
>>64863043
Anon, you haven't been paying attention, everything is a meme now.
>>64863123
Because College purists are mad they are not as popular and NFL fans feel threatened by their older but less successful brother

unrelated but because of the 50 years of pre-NFL stat padding Yale and Princeton still hold the most titles with Bama a distant 3rd
>>
People tend to call an NFL game boring, in part because they want to see 40-38 scoreboards. The reality is that when you try to implement that fast paced, explosive Offense in the NFL it doesn't work, Coaches and players are way too experimented for that kind of nonsense. Of course people think the NFL is boring. Not every game is gonna be a shootout with a lot of points. Also the rules are different, and that's a problem because rookies need to adapt fast. I prefer the NFL all day every day. Salute!
>>
Start by reducing # of commercials and fucking get rid of berman

Widen the hash marks.

It'll encourage more teams to go for it on 4th down rather than kick at an angle. It'll encourage greater variety in play calling since they can't start in the middle every time.

And college being shitty like this is leading to a worse product for the nfl. Now the option is prevalent because you can score a ton of points on undisciplined kids with it rather then teaching good football.

They keep sending up these glorified running backs that haven't thrown a solid pass in their life and they continue to suck even with the easy mode modern nfl rules.

The quarterbacks don't, but college coaches do. There simply aren't any options outside if them anymore. Yeah we got Luck, but other then that?
>>
>>64865781
Good fallacy. But pro style QBs don't do well in College. They are either hand-off junkies or go to small/loser schools.
>>
>>64865817

a pro style qb won the national championship last night.

AJ McCarron has looked great in his few starts.
>>
First double the roster.
Second get a kicker who comes from a different sport.
Despite having over a hundred players, only 3 are competent on defense.

Running is a big part of football, you fucking faggot.
>hurr durr why did they keep giving the ball to the heisman winner derrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Coker is 6'5" and has a solid arm. He's the definition of a pro-style qb and someone will pick him up.
>>
>>64865837
Checks McCarron's Bama stats he threw even less. They both played almost a full NFL season with Bama here is where McCarron's Bama stats rank him in 2014 23rd Between Kyle Orton and Teddy Bridgewater. Coker's 2015 2erd between Tyrod Taylor and Bridgewater.
>>64865895
He was the Heisman winner because they kept feeding him. Also if you look at Alex Smith living off the running game isn't a bad thing.

But you are missing my point. pro style QBs don't go to big schools to throw, they go to hand off. They go to small schools to throw.
>>
>>64865895
He'll be like a 5-6th round pick and probably be a back up for a few years, get a chance to start, fuck up and then get cut. But at least he won the championship!
>>
>>64865954
23rd* not 2erd
>>64865963
Also this McCarron was a fifth rd pick, how many flashy option QB's got taken before him because he was stuck handing the ball off?
>>
>>64865954

They kept giving him the ball because he was a workhorse and people couldn't stop him. You're retarded.

>he only won the heisman because he got a lot of carries

For what purpose did he get a lot of carries? Maybe because he couldn't be fucking stopped?

Plenty of pro-style qb's go to big schools to play ball.

Protip: Running the football is more important than passing the football.
>>
>>64866001

Not to mention conference championships and all that other shit won by those guys.

What the fuck is your point again?

Brady couldn't beat out Drew Henson and sat behind Brian griese
PRO style.QB's GENERALLY go to lesser known schools or are handcuffed to a RB they hand off to at bigger ones. Because they can't drop back 40 times like the pros because their line can't pass block and they have maybe 1 half decent receiver.

The only game I've ever left early was a replacement ref game. Week 2 Den @ ATL. It was almost 11 PM by halftime and Atlanta had the game wrapped up. I said fuck this, I'm not cruising through Vine City at 1 AM.
