I've decided that I want to get into hockey as I've decided that I need a bit more variety in the sport that I watch. The problem I'm having is deciding what team to support do any of you guys have any advise. I've always preferred routing for an underdog rather than one of the established "big clubs". Anyone fancy giving me some advice?

Follow a player. Bandwagoners with no allegiance following good players is fairly common and you can stick with the team even after they retire or the team becomes shit.
I still watch the Lakers even though they are straight trash now because of Kobe and watching him in the playoffs in the mid 2000's; and I kind of follow the Kings since they used to play in my city.
Don't get too caught up in them being underdogs because you will end up suffering unnecessarily (ie Maple Leaves, Brown's) save that for people who live there

Stars are the most exciting team and most people don't give them much of a chance (since offensively oriented teams tend to flame out in the playoffs) so you won't be a bandwagoner too much.
