You can be the best clincher in the world, but if someone out there knows how to counter it, there's nothing you can do. That's all Ronda ever had, clinching people then judo throwing them. The Bethe fight gave her over-confidence in her boxing, those 34 seconds were awful even though she won, but dick riders, casuals and Joe Rogan called her Mike Tyson.
That was only 3 minutes into the fight and she looked haggard and tired already cause her coach proudly admitted she never weight trains or does any running.
This literally had nothing to do with being a "rockstar" or her busy schedule. She was just exposed everywhere.

To stay on topic: Shifting leaves you exposed if the timing is bad. I have the same mindset about them as with low kicks. If you don't set it up, you just get figured out fast. But if you do set it up nice, you have an ace in your sleeve. I haven't tried shifting in a kickboxing sparring yet. Only boxing.
