My point is that they weren't that good that year. Thinking anything else is pure magical thinking. If they were that good, they wouldn't have slipped up for long enough to make that an option. It took the rest of the game to make it to where that one play mattered. Why were you not performing during all of those other opportunities? SEC is only going to get more loaded. Saban's coaching staff are all over the SEC now as head coaches and bringing in 5 star recruits from all over the country. UGA just got a 5 star QB from Washington who wouldn't even give universities on that side of the country a real workout.
SEC is getting more powerful and pulling away from the competition, SEC network just puts the final nail in the coffin. And I'm continually puzzled by the entitlement. OSU won. They were better that day.
But they won by 7. They scored the same number of offensive points. The difference was a Pick 6. Or a long TD run while our best DBack was injured. Two long balls into the end zone at the end of the game went awry, failing to force overtime. Henry ran all over the buckeye D-line just the same as Elliot on the Bama D-line.
These aren't excuses for why Alabama was better and just lost. They're reasons to point out that the one loss doesn't in any way, shape, or form give Ohio State reason to think they could automatically win a rematch this year. All I've seen from that game, and all I've seen from these two teams this year, is that a matchup would be another tough, 7-points-or-less victory for one or the other team.
