The final session of L16 action also gave us a match every bit as intense as Barney’s triumph over MVG, with Chizzy & Peter Wright playing out an Ally Pally classic. Gando now finds himself tournament favourite, with Snackpot close behind, and the form book would indicate that the finalists will come from the winner of their quarter final ties with James Wade & Peter Wright respectively. However, if this tournament has taught us anything, it’s that the form book is about as useful to us as an ‘ages 9+’ storybook is to Dave Chisnall. As a case in point, today’s afternoon session begins with the unlikeliest of QFs, as Alan Norris takes on newly-certified Taylel remover Jelle Klaasen. The afternoon concludes with Gando v Wade, before we return in the evening for Barney’s tie with Michael Smith. The outcome of this one will likely hinge on the answer to two questions: Did Barney’s defeat of MVG take all the strength out of him? And is Blubber capable of putting some effort into two consecutive matches? One thing is for sure, if Smith wins he is almost certain of getting a PL place next year. The more observant of you will notice that Taylel performed the best he had done all tournament with a 100 average and 40% check-out rate. It's just there's one problem: Klaasen outplayed him and by some distance: 102.5 average and a 46% check-out rate for Paedo Suarez. Blaming MUH DIVORCE for this is moronic.
Philth cannot cope with the fact youngsters like Klaasen or MVG or even Aden Kirk aren't scared of him anymore. Not even former pocket boy Gando is afraid - hell, even Vincent van der Speedjobber beat him! The Autism Express's domination in 2015 has only further sped up the collapse of Taylel: the bizarre decision to change darts just days before the tournament started surely has to be the beginning of the end.
