There's elements of both I think.
Pallett, van den Bergh and Evans all deserved their victories. The three of them played very well: all of them took out high finishes and scored great. If they tighten up their checkouts, they're all destined for good careers.
However, the three they beat have been on a decline: Shitlock has been living on past glories and Huybrechts' ego took the better of him after his 9 darter against MVG last year. With those said, White's implosion is the most shocking of the lot. This is a guy who pushed MVG so close just five months ago at Blackpool, but now appears to have lost complete confidence in both his scoring and his finishing.
