You guys are putting way too much stock into muh prospects. Especially for one that's only had 1 half season of A ball (yes I know there's other players, but most people are only concerned with Swanson).
The Diamondbacks division rivals got weaker and they're taking the opportunity to win now. It's not a bad idea at all to go all in right now. Prospects are nice but sometimes they don't pan out and then you're back to the drawing board. Not to mention they already had a solid team to build around, pitching was just the last step.
Let's also not forget that Miller is young and under team control until 2019. He wasn't going to go cheap.

Barves mgmt has been taking all kinds of heat, and crying about it in the press. Freddie is the one guy they've maintained all along is going nowhere. Keep in mind their new ball park is going to be an absolute disaster. The tax payers are already revolting because it's in such a shit traffic area that they've been tying to make tax payers pay for a bridge that goes over a 10 lane fucking interstate hwy or some such shit. Maybe if they're the worst team in baseball near the break or deadline and some body offers a great deal they bite, but I can't see it right now. Honestly though, Freeman is not exactly elite so it shouldn't be that big of of a deal if they do trade him.
