>cheering for a professional sports team located in a city/state that you haven't spent the majority of your life in
Seriously, you aren't a real fan. I can't fathom how big of a piece of dirty dogshit you would have to be to "pick" your team; it'd be like me saying "Yeah, I'm from the U.S. but I feel such a strong connection to China. They are who I root for at the Olympics." That's how fucking faggy you sound. When you tell people the teams you support their inner-monologue is doing a combination of the Costanza 'ISHYGDDT' and the Jags guy gif. You're a fucking bandwagoner and honestly you might as well swallow all the pills in your moms medicine cabinet because you aren't accepted and never will be no matter how hard you *think* you like the team. You will never have the same fandom as someone from the area you scum sucking cocksucker.
http://www.wikihow.com/Tie-a-Noose

Exceptions:
>bordering states
>international (i.e. American picking an EPL team, Euro picking an NFL team)

Not exceptions
>m-muhh dads team

I agree

Knew a guy who was a packers fan

grew up literally right in the middle of chicago. Still lived in chicago

His whole family is chicagoans. He had zero reason to be a Packer's fan other than bandwagon

>he thinks he can define how my fandom works

I live in a city/state with no professional sports so my team choices were based on other arbitrary things.

For example: I chose the Clippers because, as a child playing Live 95 on Sega, I would destroy everyone with the Bulls, Magic, Rockets, etc. My friends forced me to use the worst team. I grew fond of them as a result. So, fuck you.
>>
I picked EPL team cause my mate liked it. Then picked EPL team cause my dad supported it and I wanted ot talk to him about something when he visited, then I watched them play and I got into the team.

But I support my home teams more, obviously.
>>
>>64061107

of course

but I cant afford the bay area either

I live in VA and we have zero professional sports teams. Everyone here were redskins, cowboys, and niners fans in the 90s, so I chose the opposition of being a packers fan. I was fat. I like cold weather. I now eat until I vomit. Its a perfect match.

I also like the Pittsburgh Penguins(because of the goalie Hrdena) and Kentucky Wildcats football(family from there).

Agree 100%

Its usually just people that can't deal with being a fan of a shitty team, so they pick somewhere else, and then they decide to be fans of their home team oncs they become good.

OP, what is exactly wrong with me being an Eagles fan that was born and raIsed in NYC? I could have been like every other new yorker in the late 80's and hopped on the Giants fagwagon but instead I ended up liking a worse team that plays only 2 hours away from me.
