Dude nobody even rates him. Seriously fuck off with your German shit player. Do you ever watch anything other than Bundesliga? Why would you even think that people rate him unless you only watch Sport1?

How? You seem mad that Britain only has shit tier goalies because it's always the fat bloke who's a shit player you put in goal.

Yes he is, nowhere near top 5 of all time like most of these kids claim. Maybe top 50 tho and that's being generous.

>>
>>63997521
No, this man was a fucking genius who could easily change the outcome of any game when he was in form, which was most often than not in Juve, but not as often in Madrid.

Madrid fans tend to overrate him, and dismiss the fact that his best years were at Turin.
>>
>>63997603
Seriously what has he accomplished?

>world cup
He was invisible until the final and benefited from Ronaldo being ill, also Nike conspiracy theory etc.
It was the dirtiest world cup win in history. That's Zizou's legacy.

>euros
Played at a time when every European country bar Holland was a team of literally whos.

>1 CL
Madrid bought up all the competition, of course they'd win something.

What else has he accomplished at club level? Fucking nothing.

Your arguments doesn't validate your "no". Your just explaining why he was a great player.
Donaldo is a great player, but he's clearly overrated.

That was in the mid 2000s, I know you weren't alive in the 90s but that mid Juve side was GOAT, only thing he's wrong about is saying Zidane was the man in the team because he wasn't

there needs to be a consenzus on at least a top 10 of players that by /sp's standards aren't overrated, and everyone that criticises players like zidane, ronaldo etc should get their list of top 10, non-overrated players so the rest of the board can judge him whether he's shitposting or just retarded

France was the most talented NT in the world in 98 and 00, Juventus was the best team in the world in late 90s (they won the CL the season before Zidane got there) and Madrid were the most talented team of the early 00s.

And the 09 Barcelona was a completely different team from 15 Barcelona. Except for Messi, only 2 other players started both of those finals. Not sure how does it count as only one team

It's not. Valid criticism is what you decide it is to you. If someone just blurts out memes, you fucking disregard his opinion immediately and move on. A consensus on that just hurts discussion. Go to other sports boards and try to criticise popular players and stupid shit will drown out any proper discussion, because people still think of their memes but try to hide it and tl;dr you with trash. Hell, go to /v/ and try to talk about anything they don't like and you will get the dubs treatment. Here, you just ignore the memeing idiots and talk to the ones that have good points.

France were behind Brazil, Holland, Italy and Argentina for most talented of that era. I think you're forgetting they won the WC with Dugarry and Guivarch as their forwards.

Juventus were one of the best teams in the late 90s, but they weren't far ahead of anyone like Messi's Barca was/is. And Real Madrid collapsed after the 02/03 season when they got rid of Hierro and Makelele and replaced them with the likes of Woodgate and Gravesen.

And I think you're forgetting that Barthez - Thuram, Blanc, Desailly, Lizarazu is the best NT defense of all time. France literally never lost a game when they started them together and they also had one of the GOAT DMs in front of them. Those 5 players are the main reason why France won that WC, not Zidane.

>Real Madrid collapsed after the 02/03 season when they got rid of Hierro and Makelele and replaced them with the likes of Woodgate and Gravesen.
So two players leave and Zidane can no longer win titles? Confirmed for Makelele babby.

In all seriousness though, he literally never won a title without Deschamps or Makelele playing alongside him in midfield, two top 3 DMs of all time
>>
>>63998480

90s Serie A was stacked as fuck. There were proper world class players spread out through about 8 different teams.

Juventus were cheats though, fucking refballing Inter in the 97/98 season and robbing Ronaldo of his deserved league title.

It was a very weird league. It was absolutely stacked with world class players but had very few world class teams. Juventus was probably the only truly world class team of the bunch, Milan never made it out of CL group stage during Zidane's time in Serie A (also they had 2 seasons outside of top 10 IIRC), Inter was just Ronaldo + a bunch of overpaid stars who never formed a real team, while Roma, Lazio, Fiorentina and Parma were a tier behind the European elite (none of them had any real CL success)

Just because you're able to list some good players from that team doesn't make them good. Milan were going through a relative crisis in late 90s. After reaching the CL final 5 times in 88-95, they failed to make it out of the group stage until 2003 when they won it.
>>
No, Rooney or C. Ronaldo is the most overrated
>>
>>63998720
>It was a very weird league. It was absolutely stacked with world class players but had very few world class teams

Nah, they were world class for the time. Maybe not if you compare them to modern Barca or Bayern, but teams then couldn't just hoover up every top talent.

In the 90s an Italian team featured in 7 out of 10 CL finals, and 9 out of 10 UEFA cup finals.
>>

>>63998832

>In the 90s
Irrelevant, we're talking late 90s, which were much different from early 90s when Serie A was by far the best in the world and AC Milan were one of the best ever teams.

No Italian team other than Juve made the CL semi final in the 96-02 period and just 2 times there was a Italian quarterfinalist other than Juve. Let that sink in for a second, all those supposedly world class teams amounted to 2 quarterfinal appearances in 7 seasons.

Late 90s Serie A had a world class Juve team and a bunch of very strong but far from world class teams
>>
>>63998815
He claimed it was a one team league with only Juventus being the good team.

This is factually incorrect. Lots of teams are great, or 'stacked' as /sp/ calls it, who don't win regularly. City and Chelsea are probably the most easy to list in EPL, when they have billions spent on their team and can't win year in year out multiple titles. The fact Arselel has won the FA Cup two years in a row supports this fact, if they can fucking do it, then why the fuck can't City and Chelsea?
>>
>>63998976

What? This just proves my point that a team can have many good players and still not be a good team
>>
>>63998964
Let's put it this way, mate. If the team names AC Milan, Juventus, Inter, Roma and Lazio in the 90's and early 2000's, you were in for a fight. Hell, even Parma was a risk when Crespo and Zola were there.
>>
>>63999023
My point was

Success =! Stacked Team.

There were more stacked teams in Italy than anywhere else on the planet and only one person can win the league and cup every season.
>>
>>63999093
I'm not denying that. They were all very good teams and all of them had some all time greats on their squads.

I'm just saying that none of them were as good as Juventus or other elite European clubs at that time.
>>
>>63999115
>There were more stacked teams in Italy than anywhere else on the planet and only one person can win the league and cup every season.
Then why weren't they going far in the CL? When the EPL had the most stacked teams in the late 00s only United and Chelsea were winning league titles but Liverpool and Arsenal were regularly going far in the CL. 3 English teams in the semi and 4 in the quarters was something that happened regularly. Why didn't it happen with that Serie A?

He was exceptional, I just don't think he was the greatest player of all time. That was Maradona.

>>
>>64011894
I think it was Maradona too, but Pele is not widely rated as "The Best". He's most often put into top2 interchangeably at the highest, top5 at the lowest. It's rare that someone would conclusively state that Pele > Maradona, and at that point differentiating between two legitimate top3 players isn't overrating anyone.

>>64012469
Only thing that really changed is more players participate on defense than before, which changes the game as far as stats and phases but doesn't fundamentally alter the skillset required nor modifies the basic notions of good play. Sure, the best player back then had more impact on average than the best player now but that doesn't have anything to do with how good they actually were with the ball.
