What daft cunt said that? Beckham, on top of having world class delivery, was a workhorse and a great team player. He also chipped in with about 10-15 goals a season during his peak.

He was so overrated, he eventually became underrated.
>>
Yes, he was overrated, but he was/is a top guy.

Turning himself from quite literally the most hated man in England to quite literally the most loved in a couple of years just gives me massive respect for the guy.
>>
>>63997376

modric is better than beckham ever was

>>63997418
scouser confirmed
>>
>>63990636
i dont think anyone thinks he was a world class player? no one ever mentions him with the likes of fatnaldo, messi, maradona, etc. if so then hes not overrated since he was an excellent player. he worked hard on both ends of the pitch and had a deadly kick. the ability to kick the ball hard and with accuracy is often under appreciated
>>
>>63994513
2bh only reason he got in starting line up at madrid, or was signed at all, was galacticos policy, he was past it then, only won one trophy there (la liga), which was in his final year and he barely played.

quality at united, pretty unspectacular time at madrid.
>>
>>63997394
now he's overrated again
>>
>>63997472
>i dont think anyone thinks he was a world class player? no one ever mentions him with the likes of fatnaldo, messi, maradona, etc

Going by that standard then there's only 2 or 3 world class players playing today then.

Beckham was absolutely world class. He consistently delivered quality end product at the highest level of football, and was a key player in title winning teams. Only idiot children don't rate him because he didn't have 'muh elegance' or 'muh skillz'.
>>
>>63998394
You could say the same thing about above average players like dennis irwin. He was consistant a the top level for almost his whole career. He wasn't world class at all.
>>
>>63992511

Who is John Terry?
>>
>>63992680

This. Massively underrated, he was one of the best wingers in the world circa. 1997-2002
>>
>>63993507

He was forced out by Fergie who was tired of him concentrating more on being a celebrity/model than being a footballer.
>>
>>63998469

A lot of Man Utd fans would argue Irwin was world class, and rate him as their best LB of the modern era over Evra.

But it's hard to compare him to Beckham. Beckham provided many key moments in his career. Without him England wouldn't have qualified for major tournaments, and Man Utd wouldn't have won the CL in 99 and a few of their league titles would have gone to Arsenal.
>>
>>63990636

He was a brilliant player at his best. His delivery with the ball was second to none; he was a great, pacy winger who was incredibly reliable in crossing and on dead balls. In terms of his position, he gave you just about everything you could want.
>>
Scholl was the better player overall
too bad that he was injured 24/7
>>
May i remind you all that he twice finished top 3 for the Ballon d'Or, something the likes of supposed 'world class' players such as Totti, Del Piero, Pirlo, Scholes, Robben, Suarez etc. have never even done once :)
>>
>>63998561
He wasnt slow but he wasnt quick in comparison to lots of wingers, apart from that i completely agree with you.
>>
>>63998556
>a few of their league titles would have gone to Arsenal.

I wonder how the early 2000s would have panned out if arsenal were the top dogs in the 90s

>all the posts are Brits and Americans

dont get me wrong, at Man U he was pretty good, but thats was like 30% of his career. After that he become just an average player with long shots.
>>
Oh, wow, his goal meant England qualified automatically, meaning they didn't have to go through a play-off. which they probably would have won. Give him a knighthood, it's such a significant goal.
>>
You are now aware that two (2) years after that game Greece lifted the European Championship

He spent basically all of his prime at United. And then a couple of years at the end in Madrid.

as if the accuracy on what time percentage he's spent at M. United - something completely accessory to the point, an estimation you could make generically with the overall idea still intact - was the central point of his argument.

Bravo, my wimpy friend. You managed to attack something completely irrelevant to make it seem like you defeated his argument - something you haven't laid single a thought upon in your post because he obviously was right.
>>
>>64005431

People who hate beckham are beta males. Pure and simple.

A very good player who was heavily marketed due to his looks, yet always gave 100% whenever he played and earned the respect of many players and managers who saw past the media circus that surrounded him. He wasn't the most complete player around, but what he did, he did exceptionally well.
>>
>>63990636
He became so overrated that he became underrated and then became so underrated he became overrated again.

Probably world class in his prime and was a big game player for United and England.
One thing about Beckham was that he almost always gave 100% and truly cared about the teams he represented.
One of the last England players that cared about playing for England, and was deserving to be captain.

As a midfielder he could do everything you would want from him. If he was in his prime today he'd be one of the best attacking midfielders in the world.
>>
>>64005593
Hate is one thing, decent player but nothing more. People obsessed with the guy must be beta males who want their prostates tickled by the guy.
Crazy how if this discussion were had in the late 90s I'd be going on about how GOAT he is
No English legend, you should be offended at that
