Loins fan here. I've got hope for the future now that Martha is the owner and might actually make good hirings. Bill Ford was the one consistent factor over all those shit years and he's gone now.

Normally a loss by the Packers wouldn't bother me too much but the shit that happened last night was the most blatant bullshit I've ever seen in football. That game was fucking ours and the refs took it away with their incompetence.
>>
>>63981583
I seriously don't know why the NFL hasn't made a policy that negates wins in the case of bad calls.
>>
>>63981614

nigga, your coverage team lost you that game.

you were outmanned in the endzone on a play you KNEW had to be a hail mary.

what the fuck?
>>
>>63981614
I don't think I've ever seen the lions win off of blatant refball but I can think of 6 different times where it directly affected the outcome against us. Do teams actually pay the refs to beat us? Why does this always happen to us?
>>
>>63981636
Packers had blatant holds on defenders so they couldn't make a catch attempt but there's supposedly no flag for holding on a Hail Mary.
>>
>>63980545
Yeah Lions didnt have to go to the wildcard cause they finished 12-4. Won the divisional and proceeded to get raped by the R******* in the NFCCG. Barry was held to like 40 yards.
>>
>>63981662

The universe could never allow a Bills v Lions superb owl, since then one of them would have to win.
>>
>>63981614
I blame the coaches for the loss. The Hail Mary is the easiest thing in the world to defend and they did a horrible job of it. They weren't prepared at all.

There was no facemask but it's easy to see why the ref called it, from his perspective it looked like one and the league doesn't allow penalty reviews for whatever reason so what can you do.
>>
>>63981688
Who knows, the Lions might win a Super Bowl if they ever managed to get to one.

Last season there was some controversy over the referees openly hanging out with titty dancers / escorts in the Dallas Cowboy's party bus prior to the game, which was won by Dallas who had several questionable and a couple of flat-out crooked calls in their favor.

One play dude. One play. The Lions had that game in the palm of their hand with a 20-0 lead against a struggling and anemic Packers offense. The Lions blew that game, plain and simple. The hail mary and the questionable face mask call won the Packers the game, but the truth is it should've never even gotten to the point where the Packers could actually win the game.

Packers struggle when opposing d-backs play really tight coverage at the LOS. Taking away all throws within 10 yards and daring the receivers to beat them deep 1v1. Seems like they backed off that strategy a bit and went more of a prevent route. This allowed Rodgers to find a few quick hitting throws which got the team in rhythm.
>>

There is no such thing as a curse

Lions fan here and us and the browns just have woefully inept ownership. If you look during the 90s the lions actually has competent teams, even if it was just because of Barry. Hiring millen and keeping him for so long was what put us in the position we are in today. Then firing him and keeping his right hand man as GM. Bill Ford is dead now and it seems like Martha is out to create her own legacy which is promising so far. Even when she dies it doesn't sound like the Ford babies want to take care of the team so maybe they will sell it to someone like based Dan Gilbert. But would he want to give up the team that has LeBron for an NFL team in his hometown?

Two things
Yes, it does feel that way, and most Lions fans I know predict the Lions to choke and suck regardless of player/coach/game situation, just because their hopes and dreams have been tramples and mauled for years. This happens to me too but i realize that I am just whining.

Obviously curses aren't real (if they were, we would have a superbowl already because Bobby Layne's curse ended a while ago!). What's real is a shitty owner who was either too loyal to his employees or too lazy to be bothered each year. Thankfully he finally croaked last year and we'll get someone who actually gives a shit. Martha seems to at this point but she's 92 or something.

The bottom line is that the Lions are a shit franchise who field shit teams because of a shit owner who finally died after owning the team for like 50 years and maybe now we can have some competence. Or not, the NFL is a tough league.

Two reasons to root for a team

You live there
Your family supports a team before you are born

Just know that even if your team wins a hundred owls the fans who live in that area have infinitely more claim to those titles than you do. I bet they would even laugh at you and tell you to support your own team. This is why foreigners shit on American sports fans. Can you picture a yellow toothed brit supporting a winning club just because they win, when he has a team in his village that has over a century's worth of history?

being from any particular place does not negate those feelings

if my team wins, I feel good

The ball was never supposed to be snapped. It was supposed to be a bizarre formation on fourth down to confuse and thus pull the pats offsides (and get the first down), or to simply never get the ball snapped and take a delay of game penalty and then punt. Why they didn't try to accomplish this by just having Luck hard count, I have no idea

I finally got over that game once I realized Cassel would have lost it too. He'd probably only give up one pick 6 but he wouldn't have been able to score as many points as EJ did.

As much as I hate to admit it, Modell wasn't inept. Just a greedy bastard from Brooklyn. Lerner was a Modell apprentice who was the first "new" owner of the franchise. He had the right idea until he fucking died. Then his piece of shit son took over and turned a blind eye to the franchise because (>muh Yuropoor fútbol club). Now we have a man who seems to care, but may end up in prison because of his goddamn truck stops.

It's not the Cassel thing so much as it the the fact that they can manage to break your heart multiple times in a single game.

2. How will the Bills lose this week to match the soul crushing the other two endured?

We're not talking about the losers of the week anon. These three teams have endured more historical pain than any other teams in the league, yes including the Vikings.

No coincidence that the Cowboys have be one of the worst franchises in sports since the salary cap started influencing things. Their championships are a relic of an earlier era where you could run a team poorly and just win by spending the most
>>

> since the salary cap started influencing things.
Are the cowboys the lakers of the NFL?

>>63993638
Well if that's what you're going with then all the championships and seasons before 94 are void

Exactly. So why should you be so concerned about what dates other people choose?
>>
>>63993624
He did the right thing.

If he says no, he's burning a bridge. The Ravens literally just called him. He had no idea about the specifics. Only option left is to stall.

If he told the Browns to fuck off and the Ravens deal was bad, he;d probably be up shit's creak until another teamed called.

At this point it just feels like the NFL is just using the Lions as their guinea pig to see which ways they can effectively fix games with the least amount of outrage.
Hopelessness is just so deeply ingrained into their existence that "Yup that's the Lions' is an acceptable response to refs literally taking their wins away.

I hate Jay.. Everyone is fucking praising him because he's doing less fucking up than normal this season, big whoop. This guy is not superb owl material and definitely not highest paid qb in the NFL material. But every time I mention how much he sucks on Reddit they jump down my fucking throat. Fuck Jay. Our biggest chance was when he was hurt and McCown was actually making completions in his absence, but he got healthy enough just in time to cost the entire team a playoff run. Fuck him.

>>63995560
Simple, just change coaches every two seasons. With a new staff comes a new system, with a new system comes a new QB. In the NFL, if you don't show improvement by your second year, kiss your ass goodbye. Then the cycle starts over again. Winners win, losers lose. That's just how the NFL is today. I accept that anymore. Hell, even when Brady is long gone, the Patriots will be in the playoffs, so will the Steelers, Broncos, etc.
Sure, they'll have one bad season or so, then be back at the top of the mountain.
>>
>>63997335
A Browns home game? Well, when I was a kid it was great. You actually got to witness good games and players, and the place was rocking, especially against division rivals like Pittsburgh, Cincy, and Houston.

Now, it's an eerie presence and a heavy feeling of futility. You go in with just a little bit of hope. Everyone is pulling together. After the first drive, the whole mood changes from that of hope to "why the fuck do I even come here?".
