Laudrup/Iniesta- Actually help the team most of the time. Laudrup a bit more lazy than Iniesta. Known for their ability to hold onto the ball well and world class passing ability.

Zidane- Known mostly for fancy first touchesand a meme headbutt. Go invisible in most big club games. GOAT in big games for Country

Laudrup and Iniesta are definitely a lot better than Zidane and I have seen them all play.

Iniesta is a system babby. Zidane succeeded in multiple teams, leagues and systems.
>>
Like Zidane but with less chimpouts, more trophies and more consistency.
>>
I hate the fact that no one appreciates a one club man now. They call them a system babby because they were successful. I think it's more them being loyal to the club that basically made their careers eg Messi, Iniesta and Le Tissier. Le Tiss never won anything though so is not called a system babby and he's definitely not as good as Messi and Iniesta lel.
>>
>>63893673
Would you say that he was a complete success at Juventus?
>>
>>63893673
>Zidane succeeded in multiple teams, leagues and systems
Depends how do you define succeeded. He joined Juventus when they were the best team in Europe (literally straight after their CL win), won just 2 league titles in 5 years and wasn't even the best player on that team.

Then he joins Real as they become the most stacked team in Europe and proceeds to win 1 league title and 1 CL in 5 years.

I wouldn't call those total successes
>>
Overrated shit like Xavi.

>>
>>63893880

Serie A was very competitive then though. More so than any league today, especially La Liga.

And Real stopped being the most stacked team in Europe when the 02/03 season ended, getting rid of Hierro and Makelele and replacing them with shit. From then on the team was a mess, and not comparable with the billion pound super teams Real and Barca are today.

pre-96 Ballon D'Or: useless euro-only award with too much emphasis on team trophies

WPOTY > post-96 Ballon D'Or, I agree. Much better winners, who in their right mind could argue Sammer > Ronaldo in 96 or Owen deserved one at all? Too much bias towards players of certain nationalities, and again, too much emphasis on team trophies.

Ballon D'Or WPOTY: into the trash it goes. Why did they get rid of the rule that said coaches could not vote for players of their nationalities? And why didn't they make it so players can't vote their teammates, for club or NT?

Current prize is a total sham, even worse than before.

Besides, I'm all for clearly defined boundaries: a team is judged in competitions by performing as a team, so it's only logical players should be judged individually in individual awards. When you blur the lines, shit like Sammer > Ronaldo or Hazard > Donaldo begins to happen.

Also Messi was robbed of the 2012 award.

No, but that can mostly be attributed to playing in a more defensive era and far less dominant teams.

No, m8. Due to the very nature of the tournament:

Born in a country with little football tradition:
>CL: you can always join a good club
>WC: You are FUCKED.

Stuck in a team with a not-so-good roster this year:
>CL: it's okay, we can hire new players mid-season and there's always next eyar
>WC: You are FUCKED.

This player has so much potential but he's too young for the first-team right now/This player is too old, he's not on his prime anymore,
>CL: Well, next year the younglings will develop and the oldies can be replaces with new signings
>WC: what's that? You missed the one WC you had in your prime years due to injury/ban/not being called? You are FUCKED.

Oh no, 2 of our star players are injured!
>CL: it's alright, they'll be out for a month and be back in time for the playoffs!
>WC: You are FUCKED.

Our team lacks chemistry right now! Too many players haven't played with each other! This formation is new! The new coach's system still isn't perfect!
>CL: it's alright, they'll gel in the league and we'll be ready for the playoffs come January!
>WC: You are FUCKED.

Man, this weather/pitch/opposing fans/referee sucks!
>CL: it's okay, we're still in the group stage, plenty of points to recoup/it's okay, we still have the home game
>WC: You are FUCKED.

Oh no! We played poorly and slipped away the result!
>CL: it's okay, we're still in the group stage, plenty of points to recoup/it's okay, we still have the home game
>WC: 7x1, 5pa1n, >Higuaín, You have 1 (one) point.
>>
>>63896183
Most of those points are a result of World Cup being held once every 4 years
>>
>>63896416

Yesterday, a Bangladeshi United/England NT bandwagoner (an actual Bangladeshi from Bangladesh, not a descendant of Bangladeshi immigrants) told me that Scholes was GOAT and that Englad would've dominated international football in 98-06 if we had used Scholes correctly.

He also refers to the English NT as we.

This is the kind of people who think Scholes was some kind of GOAT

This desu.

Nearly all those Scholes quotes are unsourced, if you look for the source you'll only find questionable fan-websites and tabloids, almost never an actual interview, video or credible declaration. The only real quotes are from Fergie and his teammates.

That being said, he really was England/Man U's best player and it was great to see him play.

Amazing long-passer. About the level of Deco, Ozil, prime Schweinsteiger, Pirlo, Seedorf (all great players, mind you) as a midfielder. Not anywhere on the level of Xavi, Iniesta, Laudrup, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Totti, Figo and even Memedane.

>>
>>63899932
Nah, Suárez is the best CF since R9. Henry is slightly above current-form Lewa and Aguero.

Henry was never good enough for GOAT status. He was the best striker in the world between 2004 and 2006, but still not as good as Suárez now.

Henry is about the same level as Batistuta, Milan Shevchenko, prime Eto'o. As in, world-class striker, maybe best in the world for a season or two, but not really GOAT.

>Iniesta

The trio of football memes by far. Players deeply overrated by Youtube who hardly had one entire season at his higher level. Just peaks of form in championships or just one perform saving years for the legion of football-experts in spee.

>Iniesta
Being absolutely rubbish for 3 years, plus 2 of really iregular performance. Talking about him because he played well at Madrid Barça of two weeks ago. I guess that Barça bought Turan and is trying to buy Pogba because they trust in what Iniesta could do. Busquets is having a much better career than he does. Xavi also had it in a really worst team.

>Zidane
Great career at Juventus, never reached his better shape at Madrid plus final seasons where he disappeared. Meme plays against shitty teams, like Penaldo does these days, and 2002 CL final goal.

Nice opinion coming from someone who bases his on youtube highlights and has more exposure to the EPL than every other league, together.

Henry was far from untouchable in Europe. It's just that the EPL (still today) rarely gets the top, top players, so the few that are there look better in comparison.

Prime Shevchenko was as good or better than Henry, and played against much better teams/defenses, i.e.
>>

>played against much better teams/defenses

So did Henry. What are you on about? Henry is in the top 10 scorers in CL history.
>>
>>63900809
That's not a comparison you autistic retard. It's just understanding that Barça can't expect anything more from Iniesta and even less in a regular way, so it's trying to buy players to play at his position.
>>
>>63900928
>Barça can't expect anything more from Iniesta

Yeah cause he's getting old you imbecile
>>
>>63900916
So just a bong overraqting his own league as usual, how typical.

>Henry is in the top 10 scorers in CL history.
Thanks only to Wonga classifying for it every year. Henry's goal/game ratio is far from the real GOAT strikers, be it in UCL or overall.

>Doubt.jpg. He was playing alongside a stacked Milan and when he moved to Chelsea he got exposed hard.
So you're impying that a player that played 10 years in the best league in the world and moved to Chelshit in retirement age thanks to Roman's fat paycheck somehow got "exposed". This already shows how much you watched Sheva play, your opinion has become invalid, thanks for playing.

Are you incapable of making a post without silly little assumptions? No I'm not a Britbong and praising Henry has nothing to do with praising the EPL.

Lol when Shevchenko moved to Chelsea he was far from retirement age else they wouldn't have splashed all that cash. I did watch him play at Milan, but he crumbled hard at Chelsea just like Torres did, if not worse. I don't understand why this is so hard for you to swallow.

Henry was runner up for the Ballon D'or in 2003 , 2004 and 2006, considered the best player in the world behind Ronaldinho, and the best striker at that time. Your ratings are skewed and the fact that you're Brazilian and putting Ronaldo above him in 2003 just proves it. Also Van Nistelrooy has never been above Henry at any point in his career, that's wishful thinking.
>>
Best creative midfielder since Maradona

Top 20 all times and top 5 for his position
>>
>>63901384

Or maybe since Iniesta has been playing for Barca ever since he was 20 and has been at his peak for his entire career and only just started slowing down lately unlike players like Forlan who only get good when they're in their mid 30's.

>Last 5 years

You mean when he won the world cup in 2010, and won the Euros with Spain in 2012? Yeah what a disappointment.
>>
>>63901384
rooney is barely 30 and he plays like a 40 yo desu
but yeah, shevchenko's last season for milan was still pretty good
>>
>>63901419
Everything in your post is wrong. Shevchenko was in Chelsea from 30-33yrs old, and if that's not "retirement age" for an injury-prone striker who lost his pace, I don't know what is, or Milan wouldn't even have sold him. Stop bullshitting, you've never seen Sheva play week-to-week.

>Ballon D'or
Meme award, see >>63895022
And being in the shortlist doesn't mean making the top 3, certainly doesn't mean winning.

>Nistelrooy
His goal/game ratio is far above Henry's, are you mad? Henry had better technique and was more versatile, sure, but he could never top Nistelrooy's best seasons as far as pure goalscoring go. Proof of that is that some of his many records stand still today (or yesterday, thanks vardy).

>Ronaldo
carried his country to a WC in 2002 while Henry packed his bags early. As for 2003, Henry played 8 years in Arselel and never once did what Ronaldo did against Manure in only a single game:

A hat-trick in Old Trafford.

Henry is class and a great player, but you EPLels overrate him too much, exactly because you only watch your league.

Lel so you're saying Chelsea bought Shevchenko for 30 million in 2005 knowing he was in retirement age? You're trying too hard with this revisionism. No, they bought cause he was still in his prime and he never really got going in the league, maybe that's Chelsea's fault because no striker has ever done well there other than Drogba.

>Meme award

>Being in the short list doesn't mean making the top 3.

He was literally no. 2 in 2003 and 2004.

I assume that you disagree with that statement, it's logical. But you said nothing about the other one, what proves what I was trying to say.

Iniesta has been rubbish for the last 5 years with some exceptions.
In WC2010 scored the goal at the final doing anything else during the tournament or the season. In 2012 best player at the tournament. Did you watch many Barcelona games that season?

>I saw he scored in the final
>I'll go to spee to talk about how good he was even without watching any other game of him

>ha sido un año dificil para mí..
"It's been a hard year for me", it's what Iniesta says after all his season, and there is always an excuse, a friend died, a new contract, an abortion, a new coach, the injuries. Something happens every fucking year and he has a fucking disappointing performance.

But what will I say to you, I'm pretty sure that you watch all Iniestas game during the year. I don't need to explain you anything and if the GOAT is irrelevant or spends the year injury after injury you'll come here and tell us what the wiki says he won that year.
>>
>>63906292
He wasn't as consistent as he's painted after 2010, but he was not by any means EVER "rubbish".

And he's been playing wonderfully since January.
>>
>>63906437
For a player who earns 12M per year and compared with what he used to do, that's rubbish.
Maybe all of you watch every single Barça game like I do, but all prestigious press here (not MD or Sport) pointed the same after the classico: "First Iniesta good game since we don't know when"

After signing his new contract where he was the 2nd best payed on the team, he had a couple of decent games. Total delusion. He went back to his irrelevant perfomances.
>>
>>63906783
I guess you have a point that he's a little overpaid for his performances after the '10 WC

>>63906783
>"First Iniesta good game since we don't know when"
Now that's not true. He was playing well before he got injured this season, and last season he played superbly since Jan. as I said, including a great display against PSG and MOTM in the CL final.

But anyways, I'll still stand by the Torres quote ""we've been playing together since we were 15 and I have never, ever seen him play badly."

I've seen Iniesta play not-great many times, but I've never seen him play badly, like I've seen Xavi.
>>
>>63907497 cont
then again, I've seen Xavi play since the 98/99 season when I started bandwagoning Barça as my 2nd team, and I thought he was pretty fucking shit in those Van Gaal/Serra Ferrer/literallwho seasons all the way until 2004.

Maybe I was just too young to know. Though he was a late bloomer.

Last year was absolutely lost in a lot of games. But this is what keeps him alive, doesn't do shit all over the season and nobody say anything, but after one game (one of the three or four he does every 60 games) threads like this appear.

His cocsuckers said that it was the effect of having a new coach and a new system. I guess it wasn't new for Messi, Neymar, Suarez, Busquets, Rakitic, Alves, Alba, Pique, Mascherano and a long etc.

A player can't be judged by three games in a year. Iniesta, at club level, has maybe 12-15 good (good, not great, not GOAT, not bullshit) games in the last three years. The rest he was just at the field. Were good from the point of view of passing accuracy or statistics like that, but really far away of the level he showed from 2006 until 2010.

Even if you analyze his "MOTM" CL final performance, he was by no means more influental than Suarez, Nerman or Messi in that game. The turning point of that game was Messi's solo run that came in the moments Juventus controlled the game and Barcelona's midfield (Iniesta's area of responsibility) were being suffocated.
