You're supposed to let your goaltender make easy saves. That's literally the reason they won the last two cups they won. Because the defense gave up very few quality chances. A lot of people look at Corey Crawford stats in 2013 and think he was some kind of God. I don't think he was any better in 2013 than he was last year. 2013 the Hawks just played better defense. It's easy to look good as a goalie when every shot comes from the boards.

I'm not saying they were shit. They were NHL playoff quality players. Obviously Keith, Seabs, and Hjammar were on that team. Niemi performed extremely well, especially against the Sharks.
Just saying they were a much more offensive team that year. They lost Ladd and Byfuglien. Toews was literally on fire that year and could not be stopped.
2011 was a struggle because they didn't know who they were. Turco obviously was frustrating to watch, but Rape Township took over and played very well especially for a rookie.
2012 was a mess too. I honestly don't know what the missing piece was, but 2013 they became one of the greatest hockey teams of all time. They weren't blowing out opponents, but they were beating them game for game. 2013-2015 hawks have consistently played extremely well per game. Not individual efforts, Obviously Kane is a streaky bastard. He has moments where he gets on the board 20 games in a row, but then he goes 20 games without goals. They just win one on one games. I don't know what it is, I guess it's just team chemistry. (And obviously stellar and clutch defense)

That is pretty true though. To think if the lucky bounce went the other way, the hawks very well could have had a legitimate 3peat. But I think that year our lucky bounce mojo was already used in game 7 of that Detroit series with seabs series winner being tipped ever so slightly off the red wings defense man's leg and into the net.
