They've actually recognized motorsports as legitimate sport now.
The thing that's keeping India out now is the fact that the customs department asks to be paid around Rs.600 crore (the estimated valuation of literally everything the F1 circus brings into the country) as customs duty, in advance.
The promoter has difficulties in procuring such a large sum for a single payment, even though 98% of it gets refunded (if everything that's brought into the country also leaves) later. They asked Bernie to help by contributing to the advance payments, and promised to pay him when getting the refund (and make up the difference out of their own pocket). But Bernie being Bernie decided to dump the race and add Austria (gr8 decision) Mexico (good decision) and Baku (shit decision) instead.

As far as I know, most private promoters running F1 races, run at some amount of losses.
Jaypee were willing to work at the loss which would also include the payments to Bernie, (which aren't mentioned in the above figures, since the customs money would get refunded) as well as unsold seats eating into profits, because they're also building lots of apartment 'townships' in the area. Had the track taken off as a popular thing, those townships would have had an additional price hike, which is where they'd look to make their money back.

A lot of the events of the race were easy to see coming. Red Bull have had the best chassis since the Hungary upgrades, and they were already very good in wet conditions. Being faster than Mercedes early on and then much slower later in the race was a given.

I really don't understand Mercedes. They act as if their drivers are one person cut in half - They force both of them to use the exact same brakes, exact same suspension, exact same strategy and then complain when things don't go perfectly for them, or when the driver being disadvantaged by whatever the team nominates for that half of the season speaks to the media about it.
And what's more they seem oblivious to this being the cause of each and every fucking one of the 6 races they lost in the V6 era - with one car on an alternate strategy, or using a different brand of brakes, or a different fucking front wing angle, Merc wouldn't have put all their eggs in one basket and handed away the win.
I genuinely cannot see an outcome that doesn't end in either several more Singapores or catastrophic meltdowns inside the team because of their obstinateness.

Toto and Lauda are only looking good because there's no real competition. Toto's way to emotional, and aggravated and let's the journalists walk all over him. You never see Brawn losing his cool, like he does.
Also I think that the reason they do it, is because they want "fairness". In all honestly (I really don't know) had one of the other cars been running another strategy could they even have done better? Yeah. Toyota's said it in interviews, the car was so dominant in 2014, they didn't expect the others to catch up that quickly, and before Spa last year, gave up on the 2014 car and went straight to the 2016 model. It may be a turbocharged engine this year as well.

As bad as it sounds, everytime I see Alonso's car fail, I break out in a big smile. I just hate him so much, and everytime the car fails and he's stuck suffering at the back of the grid, he's just going insane, ever since he left Renualt, everywhere he's gone he's just never been able to get it together. I feel his personality just ruins a team, whatever it may be, it's just ironic. Leaves Ferrari and Vettel gets a better car at Ferrari, Leaves McLaren and spends a two years doing nothing, returns to McLaren, and Honda are literally shockingly bad. I didn't like Raikkonen or Alonso neither at first but ultimately I think they're two of my favorite drivers now. They were the first to win in the post-Schumacher period of F1, though Raikkonen could have won 2003 and Alonso did actually beat Der Michael in 2006.
