Round one takes place across 2 sessions today, with glacial jobber Justin Pipe & speedy jobber Vincent van der Voort - both former finalists in this event - getting the action underway. Bunt Man & Mensur also get their campaigns started in the afternoon session, while the big guns take to the stage in the evening session. Speaking of big, hopefully the Minehead stage has been significantly strengthened, as Snackpot meets Hendo in tonight’s third match. Assuming their combined gravitational fields don’t create a black hole that devours the entire planet, we’ll also be treated to Gando & Taylel meeting in a round one tie, a result of Gando barely giving a shit about the Pro Tour, and Phil giving even less of a shit about it. I think the PDC need to reduce the number of players in their tournaments. There's been too many recently where the first round is absolute crap.
I don't think there's been a single good match all day.
And that D20 ends an interesting if very dull day.
While there have been a number of high profile shocks, including Taylor being sent packing by Gando, Wee Rabbie getting dumped out by perennial jobber Jamie Lewis and Kimmy losing to Daryl Gurney, the standard on show was not very good. Even MVG, a player who completely loves this sport, looked lethargic and lazy yet still managed to get pass Keegan Brown.
