When I back outsiders or long odds, it's mostly because I think that favourites are being overrated, or that the pace is going to throw them off etc, (it was raining in Ludlow earlier, I expected a slow race) and I think that a particular horse can cause an upset.
I backed Soldier in Action because I expected him to set the pace, due to him having more stamina than his contenders (shown at Wolverhampton, placing at over 9 and a half furlongs). I expected Joe Fanning to set a fast pace early on and carry it all the way, but Soldier in Action fucked up in the last furlong for whatever reason which was pretty disappointing
