That last one I think is really the lowest point in their history aside from 0-16. To break a man's spirit enough to make him walk away from the game rather than keep on pace to break just about every rushing record there is; that takes a special combination of not bothering to be good team at the team level, not bothering to try to change this at the GM/FO level, and having indifferent/shitty execs at the ownership level. Astounding, really.

Barry deserved more that's for sure. They had a real shot at it the year they beat the Cowboys in the playoffs. The Redskins were just too good that year though, nothing was going to stop them from winning the super bowl. Barry rushed for like 40 yards on them. Fords couldn't ever fire anyone cause they were too nice. They'd rather have a losing football team than look like a dick. Ironically having a losing football team ended up being the thing making them look like dicks.

I firmly believe if the Lions had had a quarterback like Stafford on one of those '90s teams they likely would have won a Super Bowl.

It's not the Fords, it was William Clay Ford, who was known to be a terrible manager, it's why he was never given a proper position in the company when it was still family owned.

Martha Ford is shaping up to be a tough owner, it's only her second year as owner and she's had no qualms about firing upper management, in the middle of the season no less.

As for the 91 season, what hurts the most is that they went on to become just as irrelevant as we were after that. Mark Rypien was a shit qb who happened to have one mgical year the same time we had one, the Redskins just had more magic.
