As a Sydney-sider I'd recommend Sydney but you have to be really clever about where you get a house because it's super expensive and there are some real shit-hole parts of the city.
I've only been to Melbourne a few times but it seems like a nice place. Also Melbourne Victory have been the most consistent team in the league.
I don't know anything about Adelaide all I know is that Adelaide United are perennial chokers.

Sydcunt here, The Gong is probably what you're after. It's pretty chill, there's a uni so there's some stuff to do/people and you can always take a trip up to Sydney in the weekends. It's also beachy and all that shit if you're into that.
That said, it's small so you may have issues finding a job or whatever, but accomidation would be cheaper than a major city.

If you head into the Sydney CBD on a Saturday it's going to be full of people and Portubro doesn't want that. The Gong city is way smaller and probably more up to his speed.
Gong would probably be the best place, it's just most of my Gong mates are always talking about moving to Sydney for job opportunties etc.
