It'll be close. Dunno how willing the committee is to have a team jump from 14 to 6, possibly 5 if they hate Baylor that much.

After this season he's starting to lose his edge. Meanwhile, Baylor and the Oklahoma schools are looking more appealing to Texas recruits right now. At least A&M is still above Arkansas, Texas, TCU, and Tech.
>>
>>63448608
Committee don't give a shit about "jumping" in the slightest. They start with a blank slate each week and rightfully dropped TCU 3 spots for the last poll last year.

I'm so sick and fucking tired hearing about Alabama's loss.

They turned the ball over FIVE times. 24 of Ole Miss 43 points came off of turnovers. The average starting field position on the first four scores off turnovers was the Alabama 23. Then you have a blown play turned into a ~70yd touchdown because of luck. Yet people want to delude themselves into thinking that Ole Miss was the better team instead of the reality that Alabama just straight up lost that game. Alabama actually outgained Ole Miss after turning the ball over 5 times. Without those turnovers and a luck TD, the score is fucking 37-12 if Alabama doesn't score on the 5 possessions they lost.

If A&M finish of the season 1-2 which is feasible because LSU always beats aggy and Vamderbilt has a legit defense that could easily shut down A&M's shitty offense.

If this happened Sumlin is gone. 4 seasons each worse then the previous.

There has been no player development with his upperclassmen.
Sumlin was lucky to find himself in a situation a Houston with Art Briles leftovers and Case Keenum at QB.
When he got to A&M he was lucky to have Mike Sherman's OL recruits and Manziel. His entire career was built on others work and now he is being exposed as a fraud.

Here's the thing - because he's kept winning bowl games he gets off light. He nabbed a monster hire with Chavis so that should keep Sumlin in for at least next season. But I'd be very surprised if Spav was in College Station come 2016.

Look at Oklahoma - they got humiliated last year and Castiglione told Stoops to fix his staff or he'd do it, including Mike. That's why Bob fired all the offensive staff. But even then Mike is on the hot seat and if OU shits the bed again then Mike's fired and Bob's on the hot seat next season. THAT's why OU has made such tremendous strides compared to last year - the staff was told to sink or swim. Until Sumlin gets that treatment the Aggies are going to be forever 8-5.

I'm not the one who asked it. Presumably because jumping a one loss team as a one loss team themselves isn't outrageous if they show that they're better. If they woulda jumped an undefeated it would've been bad.

Oregon rank 7, now 6-3 and unranked
USC rank 8, now 6-3 and unranked
Arizona State rank 15, now 4-5 and unranked
Georgia Tech rank 16, now 3-6 and unranked

I could find more of teams being ranked after winning a game against a ranked opponent and then losing games. Ranks before Week 10 are largely meaningless. Teams will be overrated, teams will be underrated. That goes for every conference.

I'm an Alabamafag. I agree that the SEC does get hyped up. The thing is, the SEC won enough times in the recent past to deserve it. That being said, the SEC is now on par, if not worse, than most other conferences. That partial favor is dissipating and will be gone within the coming years, depending on how well the SEC does in bowl games from here on out.

There's only 4 SEC teams in the top 25. This time last year there was 3 SEC teams in the top 5 and and 6 teams in the top 20.

because someone initially drew a parallel between this year's alabama and last year's OSU. And Alabama is currently ahead of undefeated p5s. I don't think it's a huge deal because it should all get sorted in the next month. Nonetheless, the two situations wouldn't be comparable, because OSU didn't get in at the expense of an undefeated p5.

that's why that would be the question.

Only time there were 4 SEC teams in the top 10 this year was week 7.

3 of those SEC teams were 3 of 12 undefeated P5 teams. The only undefeated teams that weren't in the top 10 were OK State, FSU, and Iowa.

OK State started out the season against 3 FCS teams and their best win by week 7 came against a KState team that had also played 3 FCS teams to start the season.

FSU started the season against 2 FCS teams and their best win by week 7 came against a 1 loss Miami team.

Iowa is Iowa and hasn't played anybody all year long.

If you want to get a jump in the polls early in the year, which will help you stay in polls later in the year if you do lose, you need to schedule a good first or second game.

Alabama played #20 Wisconsin. LSU's second game was against #25 Miss St. Florida's ranking came from beating #3 Ole Miss who had beaten #2 Alabama a week before.

Missouri.

Part of an athletic scholarship is to, yanno, compete in athletics. If they wanna quit that's fine, they can pay their Missouri tuition or xfer.

Seems like an easy enough fix.
>>
>>63451344
>do you realize how silly that sounds? that's the whole fuckin point
Literally every single time it happens it's because those teams are part of the undefeated crowd and/or a rank ~10-15 knocks off a rank 1-10 and they swap places.

SEC Bowl Wins.
2007-2008, 9 bowls, 7-2, 77.8% win. National Champions, LSU. They beat OSU.
2008-2009, 8 bowls, 6-2, 75% win. National Champions, Alabama. They beat Texas.
2009-2010, 10 bowls, 6-4, 60% win. National Champions, Florida. They beat Oklahoma.
2010-2011, 10 bowls, 5-5, 50% win. National Champions, Auburn. They beat Oregon.
2011-2012, 9 bowls, 6-3, 66.7% win. National Champions, Alabama. They beat LSU in the rematch.
2012-2013, 9 bowls, 6-3, 66.7% win. National Champions, Alabama. They beat Notre Dame.
2013-2014, 10 bowls, 7-3, 70% win. National Champions, FSU. They beat Auburn.
2014-2015 12 bowls, 7-5, 58.3% win. National Champions, OSU. They beat Alabama and Oregon.

8 straight years of winning or competing for a national title. 8 straight years of winning more bowl games than losing. It's probably a longer streak than that but I can't be fucking bothered to spoonfeed you more than I already have.

Stay.
Fucking.

What needs to happen is
1. They need to win out and Baylor looks like the biggest hurdle.
2. Notre Dame has to lose. Most likely to Stanford
3. Stanford needs to lose to anyone but Notre Dame

A. Alternatively, Clemson and UNC both need to lose before they face each other at the ACC ship, then either ND or Stanford can win out and OU should be fine
B. Same story but Bama has to lose the Iron Bowl then go on to win the SEC ship.

Assuming win-outs, the current order goes Clemson > Bama > Ohio State > Notre Dame > Stanford > Oklahoma

I don't even know where to start. It would destroy the football program for years. It would look insanely bad to kick student-athletes out for exercising their right to protest a situation that many people in the school and around the state and the country perceive to be a serious problem. and the school is hardly in solidarity against the protesters - it's looking much more likely that the prez will lose his job

>>
>>63451752
By allowing them to boycott and keep their scholarship, you're not "supporting" the racism. If you were to take away their scholarships and kick them off the team, you'd be supporting the nigger shouters in the eyes of the retarded public.

By rescinding their scholarships the next year, you're not supporting the big bad racists but you're also not letting a bunch of students push you around.

Also, there's literally no winning in this situation.
>>
>>63451707

OK then here's the alternative.

You can't field a football team for your final 2 or 3 games, whatever it is. You have to refund tickets and everything else for those games. TV networks who were going to carry the game now have no game, and the advertisements which were bought in that game have to be paid back or partially refunded. So then the SEC has to reimburse the TV network since the SEC didn't uphold their end of the deal to provide a game. So then Missouri loses a big cut of their SEC TV money and revenue sharing since the SEC had to pay their bills for not fielding a team. So then the Missouri athletic department loses a fuckton of money, money which funds literally all of their other sports programs. While they could operate in the red for a year, the long term effects from downsizing all of those programs would be felt long term.

All because some ppl got mad over a swastika made out of poop.

An athletic scholarship is a written agreement to play a sport for tuition and other expenses, assuming you're physically able to do so. By voluntarily sitting out you are forfeiting your end of the agreement and the scholarship is void.
>>
>>63451707
>to kick student-athletes out for exercising their right to protest

They would not be kicked out in that scenario. They would have their football scholarships revoked since they refuse to play football. At that point, they can pay for their own education or leave. Nobody is forcing them to do anything. If someone was on an academic scholarship and they decided to protest by not going to class, their grades would tank and their scholarship would get taken away.
>>
>>63451785
if that were true why would there be any danger of them giving in? and numerous alumni, missouri legislators etc have come out in the last couple of days in support of the protestors

>>63451776
the NCAA isn't gonna touch this with a ten foot pole
>>
>>63451793

Missouri would be better off having open tryouts and fielding a team of walkons to uphold their end of the TV agreement if it comes to that.

It would probably be the greatest television ever.
>>
>>63451801
Exactly. If they outright REFUSE to play football, why would the school let them keep a football scholarship? Their free education is entirely contingent on their participation in the football program.
>>
>>63451793
wait so... you're arguing that the scholarships should be taken away, by giving a long list of bad things that will happen if the scholarships are taken away?

>>63451801
by "kicking out" i meant taking away scholarships

>>63451788
i think it would be pretty obvious why you were taking away the scholarships, and people wouldn't be any happier about it
>>
if it's not been posted yet, who is in your play-offs prediction?
Clemson, Ohio State, Alabama, and Notre Dame for me. No idea on the order.
>>
>>63451868
And by posted yet, I meant posted this thread
>>
>>63451867

No you take their scholarships away and a lot of them will say fuck that's not worth it and quit protesting. Who cares if you lose a handful of players, Missouri is shit anyway.

Reports out that a lot of the Missouri players are pissed at these protesters too.
>>
>>63451896
so you take their scholarships but then give them back if they stop protesting? that seems functionally identical to the situation we have now.
>>
>>63451484
but we won
>>
>>63451924

No you announce that any player who protests the upcoming game is free to remain a student and finish their semester, but are losing their athletic scholarships. Most will cave, and the ones that don't can't continue to be regular students or they can transfer to a school that doesn't make racist poop symbols.

I mean, if a kid with an academic scholarship gets Fs then they lose their scholarship.
>>
>>63451960
And you think this wouldn't exponentially increase the intensity of the protests among the student body as a whole? along with any number of other negative consequences for the university

as far as they are concerned, its a handful of bad apple whites becoming police and killing black teenagers. that's somewhat higher stakes than hearing a drunk teenager use a slur. whether or not you think that's legit, its what they are scared of. so much this

TCU's only argument is their Ole Miss beatdown last year on New Year's Eve. Ooo they took down a big bad SEC West team, the bama-killer team. The same team that has days where they get shut out by Arkansas or they lose to fucking Memphis.

Similarly Baylor's argument all comes from it's 'high-powered' offense, winning games 205-156 by running up the score against teams that have no chance at stopping any competent offense in the top half of Power 5 schools.

Okie State blowing out TCU was a well-deserved end to this meme. Big 12 will gain its foothold back when balanced teams like Oklahoma and Oklahoma State get back to being good and winning bowl games.

In no way shape or form lol. I think he's smart as shit and only looks out for one man, Donald Trump. In his mind he hears "make Trump great again"

I'm voting red this year (I alternate red and blue depending on the last incumbent; it's important not to let any party do too much of what they want), but I hope it's someone else.

If you are a high school kid with a few scholarship offers and Missouri was one of the schools you were looking into, aren't you most certainly looking elsewhere at this point?

So you oppose trump because you've created an alternative reality where he steals from the government. You don't even state the issues but simply your delusion that you are living in

We used to have one.

With all the Group of Five success we've been seeing recently, I wouldn't be surprised if the Big 12 poaches two schools to have a real championship game.

Memphis could've really given themselves a shot if they hadn't lost to Navy. I was thinking Memphis and Cinci.

I oppose Trump because I trust him about as far as I can throw him. Nothing he says seems genuine to me, I've seen him media a long time.

Policy-wise I think the country needs a stint of red, but character is important to me as well.

until Texas fucked everything up.If they leave leave you won't see any progress on having the Big XII football championship return to prominence.

It's sad how southwest football becomes like this

Imagine the Big 12 back with Nebraska and Texas A&M. Basically replace Missouri/Colorado with TCU and WVU. That sounds like a fun conference. Nebraska in the bee one gee still weirds me out.

Didn't beat LSU-Bama, but beat the shit out of Minnesota-Ohio State
