The thing is, I am not just buying beers because they are expensive, I will buy a single bottle if possible to see if the beer is good, if it is I will then proceed to buy more of it. I can't think of one major Australian brewery outside of james squier that I feel deserves the price tag, XXXX is literal trash, as is Vb tooheys is a little bit more salvageable but they stopped making Platinum which was my favorite drop from them and extra dry has only one saving grace, it is relatively cheap. If I am buying Australian beers I would much rather support local breweries instead of the majors.
