Just joined a team lads, anyone else here actually play rugger?

Also I gotta comment, this world cup was arguably the most even amongst teams, we'll never see 100+ points again.
It was always NZ's best win, no choking, old team even older and even better than the last world cup.

Pro12 table for what it's worth.

Clearly anomalous due to the world cup and how early it is in the season.

Ospreys have a decent bit to make up though, seeing as Leinster, Glasgow, Munster and Ulster are all going to be top of the table come the end of the season. Way too early right them off though.

If you look back over the last 5 seasons, since the Italians joined, the highest points total at the end of the season was 83 by Munster, followed by 82 and 81 by Leinster and Ulster respectively after 22 games.

Most other teams in the play-off spots were low to mid 70's even if that sometimes.

After 6 games, just over a quarter of the way through the season, they really have given themselves a decent advantage to be about a third of the way to the usual points total of a play-off team.

I don't see it lasting but it will be interesting for the Heineken spots come the end of the season, and even contesting towards 4th.

Why don't Japanese recruit sumo into their squad. Give them stamina training and you have a machine which can move 20+ stone in less than a second. Plus all the hand off stuff they do would work when ball carrying.

Sumo is a lifestyle, not some sport they just happen to get into. But yeah they'd probably be great.

>NMS behind Savea & Habana for defensive blunders.
Habana literally lost the Saffers the match against New Zealand. He cut in causing an overlap for the first try and was then sin binned for a retarded decision later. Just coz he caught some balls doesn't make up for it.

I think Etzebeth and Lood's pathetic lineout efforts were more to blame.

Interestingly, the front row and halfbacks were the only areas of their team where all the players were native Japanese. Their back-row by contrast didn't contain a single ethnically Japanese player

I really think Whitelock is a bit of a passenger, coasting off a beast AB forward pack. I'd have had AWJ, Richie Grey, Lood, Nakawara (got 2.5 turnovers a game), and both Argies ahead of him.
>>
>>63364050
Yeah, I remember a couple of years ago when the ABs (not Maori ABs last year) played them in a 2 game series and even though they got drubbed after 30 minutes of actually putting up a fight, their scrum was dead even with the ABs because their technique made up for deficiencies in weight.

Obviously the ABs wouldn't have been playing at the intensity as say, they did in the final, when they manshamed the Wallaby pack, but that does not take away from the Japanese pack managing to scrummage evenly with the ABs on the day.

>>

Based on the WC alone, which is what got this whole convo started, he's top 3 from the home nations with AWJ and Henderson, probably better than Henderson because he didn't fade so badly after 60 minutes

>>
>>63380093
ben franks is going and owen franks is tighthead primarily, don't think he'd get switched. Probably will be his last world cup and faumiana will take over. Moody and another person will be the looseheads

tamiefuna was rejected by AB coaches because they told him to lose weight and he didn't, was shocked when not selected and response was something like "they want me to be able to play 60 minutes, but why does that matter if they can just bring on another after 40 minutes?". bad attitude, lazy.

so it'll be moody coles faumiana as the starting front row tentatively.

luatua is blindside, and also behind much more talented opensides, sam cane and ardie savea to name a few.

read is nearing his end, but will probably still make it. Akira Ioane is a young fella, but he's quite good. He might be there in a couple of years.

Kaino/Cane/Read likely.

agree with your other selections, barrett won't be a starting FB ever I don't think, will be a bench or back up 10. Buckman may be for Crotty, or Ranger now he's back. Will be interesting to see.
>>
>>63380215
I for one will be looking forward to the development of the Ioane brothers.

On the subject of rising talents, Damian McKenzie is looking like a good prospect. He's got the line breaking ability of Ben Smith but doesn't have the latter's game sense to choose the gap that will create opportunities for support runners

Getting low. It puts you in a better position to drive and to compensate the opposite prop either has to go low and risk collapsing the scrum, or they pop up and lose any driving force they previously had. Being lower is also more efficient for driving forward too, obviously.

Yes. Pau has a real history, but they're really struggling. The game is a must-win for both team actually, as they're both the prime candidates for relegation.

Agen is leading, but there's still 1 hour to go. Pau is an extremely undisciplined team, they're still full in the 2nd division mindset: "fight, fight, fight, guts, guts, guts, we can do not wrong this way".
>>
>>63380093
Conrad Smith signed for Pau, though. Maybe he'll come back to S15 in 2 or 3 years though, after he got some easy €.
>>
>>63387647
Smith would be too old at that point for the All Blacks or Super Rugby. He doesn't have the quality or class to last that long.

He's no Go-... BOD, I mean. ;)

Not that good, it seems. Montpellier's results have been extremely meh since he took charge.

Plus he's basically fired all the players to replace them with Saffa journeymen.

Also:

Pau 33 - 31 Agen
Brive 16 - 3 Bordeaux-Bègles
La Rochelle 38 - 3 Oyonnax

I’m a 27 year old American Rugger (Rugby fan for you uneducated). I watch and discuss all things Rugby on my tablet, and spend my days perfecting my knowledge and playing superior British Commonwealth games.

I train with my Gilbert every day, this superior ball can cut clean through the air because of the renowned torpedo punt kick and spiral cut-out pass techniques, and is vastly superior to any other ball on earth. I bought my first pair of Rugby "boots" two years ago, and I have been getting better every day.

I speak Kiwi fluently, both the North and the South Island dialects as well as Maori, and I write fluently as well. I know everything about Christchurch history and their earthquake building codes, which I follow 100%.

When I get my New Zealand visa, I am moving to Christchurch to attend the prestigious Christchurch Boys' High School to learn more about their magnificent culture and their illustrious rivalry with Christ's College. I hope I can earn a spot on the school's First XV!

I own several pairs of jandals, which I wear around town. I want to get used to wearing them before I move to New Zealand, so I can fit in easier. I bow to my cuzzies and speak Maori as often as I can, but rarely does anyone manage to respond.

Wish me luck in Aotearoa!
