Will any americans be watching the cricket all stars match at Citi Park in New York next saturday?

The ticket prices are pretty expensive but I hear they're broadcasting it pretty well

is this on tv

I assume so, but there's not much info online. ESPN are promoting it a bit

There'll be lots of streams here anyway because most of us /cric/ people watch through streams
>>
>playing T20 format

>>
>>63333896
Well I don't think many people would come for a test match haha
>>
>>63333331
>The ticket prices are pretty expensive

Is that really a good idea? Even if it's a novelty in New York, it seems like they'd have a hard time filling up the stadium for a sport most people have never heard of.
>>
>>63336452
Yeah everyone's saying they've fucked up a bit, but the guys who run it are saying that there are tons of people in the US who have never seen Sachin play live and would pay lots to see him. Which is true, but it means the games will be 99% indians, which kills the point a bit.

Sachin is arguably the biggest sports celebrity of the last 30 years based on number of fans. Sure they're all shitty indians with bad taste, but there would be enough of them in the US to sell a few tickets.

Yeah

Mostly indians

They're playing in LA and Houston too. They're might be enough Caribs in NY to make this work.

Baseball stadiums are the only one with a big enough field for this?

I get that they have to do this during the MLB offseason, but could they have waited for football to be over too? Don't know if cricketers got something going in March, but there's so much NCAA on Saturday they wont get any casual viewers.

New yorker here. First off how poor is the rest of the world. Tickets start at 80, decent seats going for 150. Giants and Jets tickets start around 150, so tickets aren't expensive.

Second nobody gives a shit. The stadium will be packed with all the Indians from Roosevelt and Jamaica.

>random photo of me at citi field this year
>>
>>63341573
The main thing is that for an event that's supposed to "sell cricket to america" they're only gonna get rich cunts and indians
>>
Can women bowl in cricket? If they could, I could see it working as a women's sport. NCAA could pick it up for title IX.

yes

They're still not big enough actually, gonna be quite a few sixes in these games
>>
>>63341560
Oh wow. TIL that Jonty Rhodes isn't 50 yet.

I guess if you want people you can call the gods of cricket you have to go back a little. I was down on the idea of this but on seeing all those names of the greats who were playing when I grew up I will probably be keeping an eye out for this.

This would probably do better in cricket countries though, and I don't know how many of them will know how to approach T20.

It's like they don't want anyone to watch.

So will they build a temporary shitting street within the stadium or just incorporate one of the adjacent streets?

Hi, newcomers to /cric/!

It seems you have stumbled upon our nifty old sport. You're probably wondering: what the hell are these guys in whites doing? Why are they playing with a paddle? Is this a new meme? But did you know that cricket has been played for over 200 years? Wow! That's really something. Here's something that might help you understand the game more:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laws_of_cricket

And while you're here, it's best if we introduce you to some of /cric/'s finest memes so you don't feel left out :) Here are a few of the classics:

>Is David Warner related to Shane Warner?

Referring to 2 famous Australian cricketers, this is a humorous play on words of current Australian batsman David Warner and Australian spin legend Shane Warne(spin is a form of bowling that you'll come to know and love). The similar personalities of the two players also makes this amusing, as it's likely that they are probably related!

>Will Smith score a century?

Another delightful play on words. Here we're referring to current Australian captain Steven Smith, and the question is whether he'll score a century. However, this question is always answered with "Will Smith is an actor m8", a reference to popular African-American actor Will Smith, someone I'm sure you're familiar with!

>Daniel

Daniel is a cricket fan from New Zealand well known for his idiosyncrasies, such as his worship of progressive rock, the English County Championship and infatuation with average Slavic girls(surely a step down from the babes you have in Europe or America, haha). It is common to reply to New Zealander posts with "hi daniel", as a reference to /cric/'s most popular Kiwi.

>Holly or Ellyse?

This is an ongoing debate as to who is the better looking female cricketer: Australia's Holly Ferling and Ellyse Perry(who represents Australia in both cricket and soccer - wow!)

There's so much more in /cric/ to offer! Stick around!

To my understanding, aren't there games in Houston, LA, and New York? Will all three of those games be at the same time and day?
