>Wales, England, Scotland, N. Ireland all have different national teams

go ahead, explain this one.
>>
>>66276880

Because they're different countries mate

England and Wales first joined centuries ago, I don't even know when

Then the Kingdoms of England and Scotland were formally joined in Union in the 1700s, creating the United Kingdom of Great Britain

We conquered Ireland too but in the 20th century they started throwing hissy fits so now we just own the Northern part.

The "Home Nations", as we call them, have been playing each other in sport for ages. We have been playing each other in football and rugby (and cricket, but less so) since the 19th century I think.
>>
>>66276987
great history m8 but they're not different countries anymore
>>
Kek imagine a GB team, literally just England+Bayol. Maybe throw Kyle Lafferty on the bench for an extra option
>>
>>66276880

Because The rest of the UK hates England.

Wales,N Ireland and Scotland are not the best mates but everyone are brothers on hating on England. Why do you think Scotland wants to break its relationship with England/UK so bad ?
>>
>>66277046

Firstly yes they are

Secondly okay, to explain it a bit more, WE INVENTED football and rugby, and we also invented international games in those sports, which were originally played just between the home nations. As the sports spread around the world, we played other countries, but we kept our home nations teams

In other sports, we didn't invent the international game, or at least we didn't really have home nations fixtures in those sports. So like in tennis, basketball, and obviously the Olympics, we participate together against other countries as Great Britain.

>Why do you think Scotland wants to break its relationship with England/UK so bad ?

Because they're entitled cunts

Yeah, imagine
>>
>>66277154
>firstly yes they are

we can argue semantics but you and I both know the rest of the world recognizes the UK as one nation. Also the UK recognizes the UK as one nation. Idk what could possibly be argued here
>>
>>66277292

The UK is a sovereign state

England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland are countries
>>
>>66277259
It'd be pretty good tbf, England+Bale, Ramsey and Williams
>>
>>66277259

By the way, imagine if we had a GB team for the Rio olympics. Harry Kane would be eligible since he's under 23.

DAMN THE FAs, WHY CAN'T THEY WORK TOGETHER
>>
>>66277259
>implying a meme one off u23 Olympic team counts as a proper GB team
>>

20150203-ifab-football.jpg
25 KB, 583x261
>>66277436

Because the other FAs are worried that a GB/UK team would eventually invalidate them.

Third worlders and Blatter-types already don't like the IFAB which sets the Laws of the Game. One seat each for England/Scotland/Wales/Northern Ireland, four seats for the entire rest of FIFA.
>>
>>66277259
is that someone's Dad front and center?
>>
>>66277555

Aha. Yeah, Olympic teams are all U23 except they're allowed 3 open age players.
>>
England and Scotland had sporting rivalries

The formed different associations in sports where they had rivalries (Football, Rugby, Golf)

Note in sports where they didn't have rivalries they didn't form different associations (Tennis, cycling)
>>
>>66277292
What could be argued is the literal definition of country.

Christ.
>>
>>66277259

the beckham snub was bullshit desu...
>>

seems to include colonies as well.

No we don't. I, like the majority of Scots, voted against independence.
>>
>>66277555
Please tell me you're joking
Please tell me you're not SO ignorant that you can't recognise Ryan fucking Giggs

>>66277529
Shit I never knew that

Mental that Northern Ireland has ended up with that much power
>>
Seems like it's kinda like US states having their own teams to me desu.
>>
>>66277891
Yeah they should have let him play it's a fucking joke tournament anyway

>>66277895
They're all English, the only one I really recognise though is Sturridge (top left), apart from obviously Giggs and Bellamy that is
>>
>>66277555
Even trips can't redeem that ignorance, please stop dishonoring the flag
>>

This.
>>

Sorry, they're not all English, they're all British, obviously.
>>
>>66278078
>Mental that Northern Ireland has ended up with that much power

Well they are a small country but smaller countries have the same power as them. Christ they are in the top 30 in the world nowadays aren't they?
>>
>>66276880
we're special
>>
>>66278103
Joe Allen is welsh if I'm not mistaken, looks way different there back before he really embraced the Welsh Pirlo image
>>
>>66278078
>Shit I never knew that

FIFA can't change the laws of the game of without the four FA's of the UK voting with them. I think we should strip FIFA of their power and bring it back home fully to be quite honest with you.
>>
>>66278088
It'd be more comparable to having a USA and a CSA team.
>>
>>66276880
when we(england) made the sport we had to have people to play with
>>
>>66277436
we didn't qualify so it's irrelevant
>>
>>66278187
I feel like the countries of GB have a similar level of sovereignty compared to the central government that states do compared to the Federal government

I didn't mind that kit.

If I'm correct the men and women;s team did qualify for Rio, and the English FA were up for it, but the other three FAs weren't having any of it.
>>
>>66277555
thats giggsy show some respect ya cunt
>>
>>66277259
Sturridge, Micah Richards, Jason Steele, Danny Rose?, James Tomkins, Ryan Bertrand?, Neil Taylor, Ryan Giggs, Tom Cleverley, Joe Allen, Craig Bellamy.

Christ, what a shitshow.
>>
>>66278238
I don't really know how you work but I'm sure it's a lot more centralised here, although it's constantly getting less so.
>>
>>66278267

I can't see what the problem would be with just The FA representing Team GB if the others don't want to get involved. Hate that we use "Team GB" though when it's the UK of GB and NI really.

Would have been special if the team at London 2012 had won it, shame they were shit.
>>
>>66278324

Pearce was a cunt, There should have been a representation equal to each individual FA's population. There was absolutely no chance we were going to win anyway.
>>
>>66278377

IIRC only us and Wales wanted any part in it.

That's probably a fair point, seems like the kind of thing the SFA would say.
>>
>>66277292
>we can argue semantics but you and I both know the rest of the world recognizes the UK as one nation.

You and I both know the rest of the world recognizes America as the war-mongering gun-crazy obesity capital of the world. That doesn't necessarily make it true, does it?
>>
>>66278526
Naw nigga, PR was a colony of Spain and now it's a territory of the US. It's never been a country with it's own formal government.
>>

you sir are a douche

First ever international football match was between scotland and england. Both FA's have existed since then and had different national teams.

Scotland always had a seperate legal system/ church/ national teams etc after the 2 countries joined in a political union.

Football was invented in Scotland. People claim it's England, but the rules etc they reference include stuff like "you can't pass forward, only to the side" like Rugby etc. There is a Scottish set of rules which resemble football as we know it and they outdate the English ones.
>>
>>66280720
invade them then, sound like cunts
>>
>>66283675
fuck off australia, you are just the criminals of Scotland/ Ireland etc a few generations on. You are the real cunts
>>
because Brits like to tell the rest of the world what to do despite being unable to sort out their own shit at home

> Wales

are you fucking kidding me?

Brittany, Lombardy, and Saxe don't have their own NTs -- fuck, even Catalunya doesn't.

Truth is UEFA shouldn't put up with this shite

But since the England side is weaker than a true UK side would be, they're in on it too.

> Cucked by EspaƱa, France, Italia and Deutschland
>>
>>66284165
>fuck, even Catalunya doesn't.
wrong
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catalonia_national_football_team

Wales is a country and therefore it has its own national team; Brittany, Lombardy and Saxony are not countries and therefore have no national team to speak of, it's quite simple really
>>
>>66278059
Despicable imo.

how do you not know that Mel Gibson led the Scots in the First War of Scottish Independence against King Edward I of England and died for this cause
