This tournament is ruined due to the expansion from 16 to 24 teams. Actually the smaller nations play with a lot of heart and dedication while the established teams seem settled with a fucking 2nd or even 3rd place. There haven't been a single team with a clinical finisher up front, which doesn't provide any hope for exciting finals either. World Cups are usually very solid tho. Can't waot for this shit to end.

Main competition is 2010 World Cup (1990 WC was terribly bad back then but actually doesn't look so bad compared to modern football) which had at least few good games
The problem is that usually group stages are most entertaining and when knockout stages come everybody bunkers up and plays cautious, boring, safe football. Just boring tactical battles. Now group stage already suckes so bad, it's crazy to hope that knockout stage will be better. Most teams will park the bus, try to get one on the counter or from a set piece or just survive to penalties.

Euro 2000 was easily the most epic tournament of modern era, closely followed by 1998 World Cup. After that there is a massive gap and only then we can list anything else. 2014, 2008 and 2012 were pretty good, 2002 ruined by refs, 2004 ruined by Greece, 2006 mediocre and saved only by Zidane magic and that epic Ger - Ita semi, 2010 was horrible
