Rents are going up like crazy here, but probably not as bad as most of California. If you can afford $1600 a month, you should be able to find a 1 bedroom no problem. If not, you'll probably have to just look in some of the cheaper neighborhoods, or find roomates, or both. Also, traffic is an issue, so either live somewhere near your work, or near one of the light-rail lines, etc.. and get a bike.
