Depends on what you want. Mindless grind and good art/environment Black desert online can't be beat. It's basically super HD oldschool runescape.
Rift is vanilla wow 2.0and a bit boring.

I didn't care for GW2 and I have no idea why.
FFX14AAR iI crushed within a week and got bored. The running around kind of sucked. The quests were awful and I don't play FF games so the story was lost on me but if you like FF games it's actually pretty good.
Blade and soul was just awful and weird but if you want competitive PvP it's the best there is right now.
Didn't play wildstar.
Aion is a dead game. But I liked it for what it is.
WoW is dead until legion but I'll be busting it up then and I like a legacy BC server for dick arounds.

I talk down on mmos, but in the end i always go back to try a new one out expecting it to be someone different from the last one I just played. I also always play them by my self when they are meant to be played with friends.

I play them for the grind and endgame. I've never ERPd because I find it lame as fuck. Especially in an MMO that's 15$ a month.
I mostly have the same group I play with so I guess I'm lucky in that regard. I almost prefer solo though.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks it's awful.
It's crafting system from what I know of runescape is exactly the same. There's not really puzzle quests in BDO mostly fetch and talk ones. I think it's the pvp aspect and grindyness is why a friend of mine, who put a ton on hours into both, compared them.

I have. It's grindy but I like that. The environments are beautiful and the character animations/attacks are satisfying. They feel heavy which is nice. Intense crafting system and the specs are decently diverse (but respecing costs irl money so don't fuck up. You do get 1 free one at 45) large bosses are cool and a good mob variety but predictable attack patterns so it's not your typical boss mechanics. Quests dont really give exp cept the beginning ones, they are there too earn points to other stuff or rewards or knowledge.
Combat more satisfying then TERA but that's the closest comparison. Best looking MMO out right now. And most intense crafting system I've seen are its high points.
Grindy as hell, like no armor variants (but there are dyes and a lot of them) there is a real money shop that doesn't give you a game advantage but is overpriced and has the coolest armors. High knowledge going in requirement to know what's going on, worse then any mmo out imo, and getting ganked at high levels while farming are some of the negatives. Oh gender locked classes to but I don't care about this much.
Overall it's fun and a good time sink as mmos should be.
