Anyone else from Japan?
It seems I'm always alone in this corner of the world.

I'm debating spending some time there later this year. Any broke recommendations?

Food is cheap and you can enjoy the cities without spending much.
However accommodation is expensive so stick to cheap hostels. Traveling around the country is super expensive as well so either get a railpass or stick to Tokyo area.

What's the going rate for cheap accommodation? I want to spend maybe a month or two there at first while I decide on applying for a visa.

Around 30$ / night for the cheapest crap (shared dorm or capsule hotel).
If you plan to stay in the same city for a month, get a room in a sharehouse, it'll cost around $600 / month. Check sakura house or something.

Wow, that's half as much as what I pay for my current shoebox studio. I dint think I could even get a shared room here for £500/month
>>24023650
Yeah well it'll be a tiny room in a shitty house with cockroaches, don't expect much.
Check the sakura house website to have a better idea of what you can get.
Head over to /pol/ OP, they are getting a meetup together.
