METAL THREAD! - /soc/ edition
Post songs, discuss bands, promote your own/local garbage music or whatever is proper for the metal thread
And, since this is /soc/, feel free to post pics of yourselves! Preferably with corpsepaint, long hair, wearing denim/leather or something like that but hey, not everyone wears their metalness on the outside so do whatever. I'm not gonna judge you.
Be excellent to each other.
To start this off, does anyone have any recommendations for raw, aggressive metal? My current playlist has stagnated and I want something new. I'm looking for something like Venom, Pantera, 80s thrash, Mayhem... any metal-genre.
I'm looking for more modern-day black metal. Right now my favorite album is Instinctus Bestialis by Gorgoroth.
I've heard all the 90s low-production-value stuff, Burzum, Darkthrone etc. I really like Atteringer's voice (I know people say it's more of a black-death style of screaming) and the more polished sound, does anyone have recommendations?

Debauchery!
They changed their sound with "Germany's Next Death Metal" into Death-n-Roll (trash) but everything before that is really really good, brutal death metal similar to early Nile. Their 2nd album Rage of the Bloodbeast is fucking fantastic and they also did a killer cover of Rammstein's Weisses Fleisch you can find on youtube. Actually I think you can find pretty much all their shit on youtube, look up that song and "Praise the Blood God".

Cool, I'll check them out. Maybe even their death'n'roll phase since I'm one of the few that liked it when Entombed pulled the same stunt
Friendly reminder that Gojira is and always will be the best band on this planet.
Check out towering abomination, devolving messiah, and anomaly. Awesome metal from wisconsin

Those whales tho
>>23618080
Bethlehem - Dictius Te Necare
Might be the angriest, most aggressive metal album I've ever heard.
>>23618080
Go for Cephalic Carnage!
>>23618089
Old Man's Child might be something you like, or Aosoth. Will try to think of a few others, maybe Watain too
>>23618392
I'd highly recommend pic related it's the most aggressive album I've ever heard that still sounds great
>>23618739
Whoops forgot pic
>>23618080
A list of bands that I currently go to for that are:
Krypt
Beastcraft
Urgehal
Lja
Katharsis
Craft
Ondskapt
These are all black metal though
Anyone from LA here?
Anyone got recommendations similar to Every Time I Die and The Dillinger Escape Plan?
I know they're both quite different, looking for hardcore/mathcore with something unique.

leviathan. suffocating, disgusting, beautiful black metal!
Any recommendations for anthemic metal? Does such a thing exist, or is it all considered "rock"? Asking because I like screaming riffs and heavy double bass drums, but appreciate a good hook and a lead vocalist that doesn't sound like a lawnmower. Like some of AX7, Nothing More. For old stuff, I like Metallica's ...And Justice for All, Master of Puppets.
Also, any hair/glam metal recs? Other than Steel Panther.

Acid Bath was a sludge metal band from Louisiana, their style was very unique and they have been one of my favorite bands since I was a kid.
>>23618742
Definitely agree. Good choice friendo!
Me on the right, meeting Lars from Entombed. He was drunk as fuck and complained about the high beer prices.
>>23618392
Already listen to that album, love it though
>>23618417
They played a show here last month which I missed ;_; I really like Lucid Interval and Anomalies, haven't really got into their newer stuff yet
>>23618761
Damn that's a lot of bands, could you drop a few youtube links to your favorite songs?
>>23620055
I'll check it out, thanks
>>23621884
I saw them with Suffocation, Havok and Fallujah, it was absolutely awesome and hilarious as well!
>>23621893
How was Suffocation? Do they play songs from Effigy/Pierced from within?
>>23621176
Awesome! I've seen them once live and they were great, mostly played their earlier stuff and I was blown away
I've always had a soft spot for 'To ride, shoot straight and speak the truth' but a lot of metalheads seem to dislike that album. It just has such a great don'tgiveafuck rock'n'roll vibe to it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdJCdCcaX6c "I'll be rocking and rolling in hell instead!"
anyone into Nekrogoblikon?
>>23621907
I don't listen to their music so I don't know. I was there for Cephalic Carnage and Fallujah.

Misþyrming - Söngvar elds og óreiðu

Icelandic Black metal, pretty raw stuff. I've seen 'em twice and both times they were amazing. But I'm probably biased since you judge local bands by a different metric.
Check them out, they are Roadburn's 2016 Artists-in-residence
>>23623123
>>23623385
Speaking of Icelandic stuff Svartidauði

Kalmah on the 19th i think, should be a blast
>>23623419
I've seen them live but kinda forgot to check out their albums afterwards. Went a lot more to metal shows back in the day but I'm starting to check out the local metal scene again and it seems to be great.
Thanks for this dude, gonna hunt down some of their stuff now
