i usually keep a notepad/textedit file with notes, usually rather vague like "event happens 15k words in" to keep my pacing ok and "so and so dies here" to keep myself on track with what events i want to happen. that helps me quite a bit. otherwise, i know this frustration all too well being a writer myself lol
