Also, I'd like to add that I've found people treat me differently with and without a beard. People seem a little intimidated by bearded me and gas station owners keep an eye on me in the store like they do black people. Cops also only pull me over when I have a beard lol. Without a beard, life is pretty easy mode. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Girls compliment my beard a lot when I have one though.

I wouldn't say its cultural oppression, I think its a psychological first impression. I mean beards can hide the natural features of ones face, much like sunglasses can immediately offend people because they cannot see your eyes. Its just a gut instinct that some people experience.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I'm right. Its just the impression that I get. I was in the military for a while and then did security contracting. And I'll say that one thing that used to get me about people is beards, long hair, scarves/hoodies, sunglasses, and shit like that used to set off red alarms. There is just a basic impression that one is trying to hide something, regardless of the fact that its most likely incorrect. Thats my point of view at least, but again my past experience have altered my view, I'm sure not everyone approach each person as someone they may have to kill.
