The symbols are used in multiple forms of Buddhism, shamanism, and animism, that was the inspiration for the character the ink is based off of even. The number of tomoe, the placement and separation all signify enlightenment and cleansing. That being on a degenerate is just insulting to not only the concept, but to the belief systems related.
