Ask a Christian anything.

I'm highly pious and have memorised just about 300 religious Psalms and that's just using Catholic canon.

Picture related, me praying for your forlorn soul.

Anon serious question here, I've studied a bunch of different religions from Catholicism to Rastafari to Western Buddhism and some other stuff along the way, I find them all faces of the same thing, they're all trying to get us to be selfless and think about something other than our temporary pleasures, I found my childhood happiness actually believed in a God, not a wizard in the sky kind of God but an idea of the Universe personified, as an adult I don't believe in that and that's generally because being a Christian is not "cool", I remember during high school becoming an Atheist, pretty much because everyone else was, that is to say I wasn't even a Christian to begin with since you have to be "baptised" or "confirmed" to a Church.

So really, my question is this: do you think in todays society, most people are Atheist simply because everyone tells them to be?
>>
>>23420742
Because of scientific misinterpretation of natural phenomenon.
>>
>>23420750
correct me if I'm wrong but I find scientists are very good at explaining how things work but they do not tell you why it is that way, whereas religion does
anyways, i don't know which question you answered because I am drunk and rambling but thanks for your response nonetheless, I didnt know you were a Christian they are very rare specimen these days, at least in my country and social class
>>
>>23420764
Science doesn't suppose a teleology while religion does. What they explain is the framework which our Lord created to set this world as it is. Fiat, and there was light. Big bang, if anything is this Fiat.

Summed it up there m8

>I remember during high school becoming an Atheist, pretty much because everyone else was
It was the opposite for me where I grew up. The whole small town mindset really played a part in that though. You were kinda considered an outsider if you weren't Christian. I remember the whole fad of wearing crosses to school and praying before the morning announcements. We had this group called "Meet at the Pole" for Christians to meet Wednesday morning and no joke at least 85% of the school would show up. It kind of sucked honestly, couldn't really voice your own beliefs without being exiled, so you'd have to fake being something you aren't so you could fit in.

True that, he made Athiest look bad, like really bad. I know the world shouldn't be so shallow to use one guy as an example for an entire group of people but the fact of the matter is, that is exactly how society works and he should have known better, being an enlightened Athiest and all, smarter than everyone else guy.

I love religious theory, I just can't put it in to practise. I read a bunch of Buddhism and Christianity books and I just can't put 100% belief behind it, I just don't feel it ya know, but I want to.

By directing your love at someone with selfless intent. You focus on something other than you. The words don't matter as much as feeling does.
